For the last century, one bard after another has come into The Drunken Unicorn to sing about the prophecy blazing from the wall in shiny, blue neon. Galdris, the new owner, has had enough. He'll stop at nothing to remove the prophecy that has tormented him since he bought the inn. Even if it means fulfilling it.

A comedic look at self-fulfilling prophecies.

This was a good, funny (not laugh out loud funny, but amusing enough to not get bored) little tale. I do feel like it could have been about five minutes shorter and managed to keep the audience more engaged, particularly for kids. It has a classic proverbial feel to it.

Any additional comments?

I absolutely loved the audio of Prophesy by Barlight and rate it an 8 1/2. I had not expected it to be so funny or so entertaining. At times we actually laughed out loud. The various voices of the characters added to the hilarity and all of the audio was very nicely done. I am older and now and my ebbing time is valuable, so I have no problem stopping a book or audio when it does not entertain adequately. I am only sorry that the story was so short - it is like having only one bite of an amazing cake. Now to get more works by Crissy Moss. A fun story about a bar with a prophecy on the wall that drives the bar owner nuts, since all the bards keep singing about it. He tries anything he can think of to get rid of it, and it turns out the prophecy is self fulfilling. It is a cautionary tale about being careful what you ask for, since you might actually get it. Fun characters, the plot device of the prophecy is well thought out and the bar owner's attempts to get rid of it are hilarious. Well worth your time for a quick listen, expecially since Michael Gilboe does such a good job of narrating.

I enjoyed listening to this book. Good story with a tight plot. The storyline is dynamic and it keeps you eager to learn the rest.
The story reminded me with some stories from the old European literatures. It combines the elements of comedy and fantasy.

Good audio book

What’s the saying? ‘Good things come in small packages.’ In a short amount of time, Crissy Moss does a good job creating a world and introducing characters without making the story seem incomplete or rushed. I appreciate an author who can write a good short story because it can be harder to write a short and fulfilling story that gets across character emotions in few words; than to write a long epic where you can use a forest's worth of pages. This story was a fun and enjoyable read.

I don’t normally listen to short stories, I usually read them, but the narrator, Michael Gilboe brought this story to life. The various voices and accompanying tone added to the story, in a nicely done audio production. I think part of the enjoyment I got from listening was because Gilboe made it just like listening to a story by a travelling storyteller - It was perfect for this story.
