Promise of the Witch-King: Forgotten Realms: The Sellswords, Book 2

Human assassin Artemis Entreri and his dark elf companion Jarlaxle have come to the demon-haunted wastelands of the frozen north at the request of their dragon patron. It doesn’t take long for them to find themselves caught in the middle of a struggle between powerful forces that would like nothing more than to see them both dead...or worse. But Entreri and Jarlaxle aren’t just any wandering sellswords, and the ancient evils and bitter blood-feuds of the wild Bloodstone Lands may have finally met their match.

Publisher's Summary

The book was hidden well.

Its pages promised the power of the Witch-King himself.

And now that it’s been found, even the fact that it kills anyone foolish enough to crack its cover won’t stop people from fighting over it.

"From a shard to a witch king?"

The story starts out with Artemis Entreri and Jarlaxle teamed up to take down a Lich King all the while dragons are watching. Since the fall of the shard Jarlaxle has made it his mission to get to the bottom of Artemis Entreri as he could hold the shard at bay along with Cadderly and Jarlaxle himself.

As the story progresses the dragons pulling the strings controlling Artemis and Jarlaxle’s lives send them to investigate another Lich King which could or could not exist. While investigating this new threat we learn more about Jarlaxle than we’ve previously done. We also see how he’s not your standard killer drow, but much more.

    "Excellent characters"

Great narration! Excellent characters! A bit confusing at times. There isn't always enough of a pause when there is a scene change to tell that the situation or characters have changed.
