Publisher's summary

Tavi of Calderon, now recognized as Princeps Gaius Octavian and heir to the crown, has achieved a fragile alliance with Alera's oldest foes, the savage Canim. But when Tavi and his legions guide the Canim safely to their lands, his worst fears are realized.

The dreaded Vord - the enemy of Aleran and Cane alike - have spent the last three years laying waste to the Canim homeland. And when the Alerans are cut off from their ships, they find themselves with no choice but to fight shoulder to shoulder if they are to survive.

For 1,000 years, Alera and her furies have withstood every enemy and survived every foe. The 1,000 years are over....

Excellent story and performance

This was an excellent addition to the series and a very exciting read. As always, Kate Reading was amazing and gave the story such rich character with her reading. My only issue was that it seemed like the audio was cut poorly. Maybe it was my app skipping a little or something but it seems to occasionally cut sentences and/or have no pauses between sentences. Also, those annoying trumpets that signal end of tape are back.

hooray for good authors

What did you love best about Princeps' Fury?

Minmal backstory and a well written book

What was one of the most memorable moments of Princeps' Fury?

Moon gives us a great view into the minds of her characters..the depth of emotion and the thought process and logic behind them is vivid, believable, and entertaining....

Which character – as performed by Kate Reading – was your favorite?

Odiana is one of her best performed in the series....while not a major character she gives this one alot of depth.....

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Roman battle wizards and politcal intrigue abound

Any additional comments?

Well read well written....a good buy if you're a member but 39$ is too much for a book this length if you're not...go be an audiobook junkie like me and the price is right.....

good but...

This is a great story but the transition from one chapter to another it cut some off and you might get lost for a minute.

Love this series

I have absolutely fallen in love with this series and am sad I’m moving on to the final book. I don’t want the adventure to be over. Kate reading is a great narrator and I love the writing style of Jim butcher. Some complain that Jim butcher is too gratuitous in his battlefield descriptions and repetitive but I’ve found every battle in the series to be different and as complex as the last. I can only compare the criticisms to similar complaints about micheal bay movies. We all know there’s gonna be an explosion and some giant robots fighting in a micheal bay movie but that’s what we came for. The same is true for Jim butcher in my opinion. We know there is going to be a violent massive battlefield with beautiful imagery and intense world building, but that’s exactly why I came here. My only complaint with this book in particular is the editing seems to be off in some places where a sentence or word is cut short here and there which can be disorienting and makes me feel like I missed an important piece of info but it’s not as if an entire page has been cut out maybe one or two words at max.

Wonderful story, problematic recording

Would you listen to Princeps' Fury again? Why?

Yes. The story is wonderful, as is the performance.

Did Kate Reading do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Ms. Reading did wonderfully as always. Each character was easily recognizable.

Any additional comments?

Jim Butcher's story and Kate Reading's performance are both wonderful, as usual. However, this book's recording appears to have several instances where there may have been problems while editing. Words were cut off, breaks between sentences were non-existent, etc. These were not throughout the book, but occurred frequently enough to be distracting and to think that editing was rushed.

This Series gets better and better!

By Book 5 I was pretty invested in this series. In fact, knowing there was only one more book to go, I tried to slow down my listening to make it last longer. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Sharon Shinn, Lois McMaster Bujold, etc. Kate Reading is wonderful as the narrator. Now that I've finished the last book, I'm just hoping that somewhere out there Jim Butcher is typing away on book 7.
