Publisher's summary

The end begins with a viral outbreak unlike anything mankind has ever encountered before. The infected are subject to delirium, fever, a dramatic increase in violent behavior, and a one-hundred percent mortality rate. Death. But it doesn't end there. The victims return from death to walk the earth.

When a massive military operation fails to contain the plague of the living dead it escalates into a global pandemic. In one fell swoop, the necessities of life become much more basic. Gone are petty everyday concerns. Gone are the amenities of civilized life. Yet a single law of nature remains: Live, or die. Kill, or be killed. On one side of the world, a battle-hardened General surveys the remnants of his command: a young medic, a veteran photographer, a brash Private, and dozens of refugees, all are his responsibility-all thousands of miles from home. Back in the United States, an Army Colonel discovers the darker side of Morningstar virus and begins to collaborate with a well-known journalist to leak the information to the public...The Morningstar Saga has begun.

Really like it

Plague of the dead is just my speed. It's not graphically horrific, and has enough action to make listening to it on the ipod fun. The reader is decent. This reads like a disaster book which it is.. Only the disasters are plague-ridden zombies. I like it. If you like action and a wee bit of horror, this one's for you.

What a fun ride!

This book was very well done, a great read and what a fantastic narrator. Narration was so good in fact, I went to look up other books he's narrated! The story is compelling and the characters are so well written (and read). I moved immediately into book two when I was done.

great novel

this is a great novel. the voice actor is simply supurb and this book has done what few can. it has taken a difficult to write concept of zombies and made it come alive. my renewal date is in 1 day but i cannot wait to get the 2nd novel and im going to actually buy it instead of wait for the credit. HIGHLY reccommended to anyone who loves zombie novels.

A great addition to a doomsday scenerio collection

What did you love best about Plague of the Dead?

I was hooked from the beginning, I knew this would be three books and by the end of this part one I knew I just had to do the rest, HAD TO.....

What was one of the most memorable moments of Plague of the Dead?

The Zombies where great characters and really were scary. The isolation and loneliness came through very well.

Which scene was your favorite?

The town.... those who listened will know what I mean. I truly would not want to be chased like that.

Any additional comments?

This series is worth the time if you love your Zombie stories.

The morningstar strain was outstanding!

This post-zombification tale of mankind kept me interested from the first word till the epilog. I loved that I received enough backstory on the characters to get attached but not the pages of useless info you sometimes gets when authors like to read their own words. It was a quick listen that I could do in spurts while driving and met all my basic horror requirements. Give it a listen. Oliver Wyman is a personal fav narrator of mine since the MHI series!

killer zombie book

If I were a zombie, and this book were quivering coils of spongey gray matter I'd be a'feasting. More zombies please.

Disappointing

Would you try another book from Z. A. Recht and/or Oliver Wyman?

Unlikely, often times I found myself thinking about things other than the story, actually a bit bored

What was most disappointing about Z. A. Recht’s story?

The effort to create characters only to kill them off. The story became repetitive and predictable

What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oliver Wyman is a great storyteller and the reason I continued through the entire series. I first purchased these books because he is the storyteller. (I'm really not into zombies)

Could you see Plague of the Dead being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not something I'd pay to see

Not what i was hoping.

What did you like best about Plague of the Dead? What did you like least?

This book was a little silly and not as good as some of the other zombie books available. I will not be buying the rest of the series.
