Publisher's summary

For the first time as an Orbit special edition, Brent Weeks's blockbuster novella Perfect Shadow tells the origin story of the Night Angel trilogy's most enigmatic character: Durzo Blint.

Gaelan Starfire is a farmer, happy to be a husband and a father; a careful, quiet, simple man. He's also an immortal, peerless in the arts of war. Over the centuries, he's worn many faces to hide his gift, but he is a man ill-fit for obscurity, and all too often he's become a hero, his very names passing into legend: Acaelus Thorne, Yric the Black, Hrothan Steelbender, Tal Drakkan, Rebus Nimble.

But when Gaelan must take a job hunting down the world's finest assassins for the beautiful courtesan-and-crimelord Gwinvere Kirena, what he finds may destroy everything he's ever believed in.

A few questions answered.

I have to say that a few of my questions about Acaelus’s past were answered in this one. Amusing how his name change to ‘Durzo Blint’ actually happened. Heard about it in the original trilogy but actually hearing how it happened was amusing.

Great supplement to the trilogy!

I listened to this novella after completing the Night Angel Trilogy. It was an interesting glimpse into Durzo Blint's life and left me wanting more!

meh

loved the shadow trilogy. Perfect shadow lacking spunk. Narrator is perfect for reading bed time stories, not action fantasy.

Highly enjoyable

I really enjoyed the Night Angel series, so it was nice to get another taste. It's just a nice little peek at how things came to be in the original series, so if you've read and enjoyed those, I think you'd enjoy this.

Durzo Blint.

This is the perfect little bite for those Night Angel fans. Those who followed Durzo, those who wanted to know more of how he became all that he was, those who wanted to know what pushed him.

This was a nice trip back to the Night Angel world. This was fun and satisfying. And I will be doing a reread of the trilogy very soon.

What book

Love these. Well written, very clever. Do wish the book's were numbered on cover as to order in series.

good but short

it has some very good information for the series but it's really short and it didn't explain everything you actually would have wanted to know about as far as back story goes

Great Intro

This is a good intro to the series. It really helps to set the stage for the upcoming books. Very well narrated. I am looking forward to listening to book one.

The Explanation of it All

This is an incredible novella written by Weeks and explains so much. The story is incredible even if it is so short. The reader does a great job overall I just had a bit of an issue with some of his pronunciations. Other than that amazing job and I highly recommend this for all Weeks fans.
