"Non-stop action and mind-bending concepts combine to make Orion absolutely unforgettable…. Ben Bova brings it to life on a canvas spread over time and space." (Isaac Asimov)
74 y o avid reader using either my eyes or ears. I make earrings that I donate to shelters and while I work, I listen to wonderful books
There's so much there, with wonderful pictures of societies in the past. Great depictions of the court of Ghengis Kahn, the end of the Ice Age, much food for thought. Give it a try!!!
The narrator killed one of my favorite books . Slow , tedious reading with no inflection of voice at all . Poor Orion , doomed to cross worlds with this guy reading his story .
I liked the time/ space aspect of the book. Different eras, and a great plot.
I can't say who was my favorite character without ruining the story. What I will say is that my favorite was Orion's friend, who understood what had to be done and why.
This book is on par with Stefan Rudnicki's performances. My first introduction to him was Ender's Game, and this one did not disappoint. In fact, him being the narrator is a huge part of why I decided to give this book a read.
Nothing is as it seems!
This great book has inspired me to continue on with the series. Expect more reviews soon!
Audible fan!...Why didn't I discover audiobooks sooner? I would rather listen than watch.
This book is nowhere near the top of the audiobooks I've listened to. It's not even near the top of Sci-Fi books I've listened to. Does that mean I wouldn't recommend it? Not even. Ben Bova is a capable story teller even if his character development is weak.
I'm not a sap or anything but I liked the love story in this book. I too would travel through space and time to seek out my one true love.
The end of course. But I wont spoil it for you.
meh... not really
I could listen to Stefan Rudnicki read the back of a cereal box. His voice is wonderful. He may not have too many different character voices in his repertoire but it doesn't matter. I wish I had his voice.
My second time through this book. It held up as well as the first time. To the readers who think most fantasy and sci-fi book are just to much into all the geek speak, and tech, this is a fine choice. It is a love story with a twist. And yes, it does fall into it's assigned genre. Great performance, and a fine listen.
Tell us about yourself!
The listen was decent, but not a great story. I do not agree with some of the other reviews about this being a masterpiece. It is an OK listen, but very predictable. The book is broken into several different stories about the main guy reverse time traveling. No big surprise along the way. Each story is about the same but there are slightly different details since they are in different time periods.
Don't want to give away much of the story, but it is pretty simple. The narrator did an OK job.
I rarely listen to audiobooks twice, so no.
At the end of the Mogolian timeline, where Orion had to complete his mission. Don't want to say more about it, because it would be a spoiler.
He gave Orion a different feel, than what I probably would have given him, if I read it myself, and I think this form probably were the better one.
In the last part of the book, the truth behind the purpose of Orion's mission, and the truth about the enemy's "identity" is revealed, which turns out to be a sad one, making you pity the enemy, and Orion.
Ben Bova has an eye for detail to say the least! He is able to intertwine his beautifully told fiction with milestones in our history on earth.
I've only listen to Stefan on the other books in the Orion series. Great voice and performance
Great read.. great series!
Wonderful, Imaginative, Good
The time travel, and the descriptions of the different time periods.
Mr Rudnicki is just one of the best, if not the best. He has great range and fantastic delivery.
Ah, It was a god story, though no extreme reactions.
Ben Bova is really good writer.
