Publisher's summary

The grave is one wrong step away.

Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans’ voodoo queen just keeps on giving - leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.

Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity - forever. But how do you kill a killer who’s already long dead?

Jeaniene Frost, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, lives with her husband and their very spoiled dog in Florida. Although not a vampire herself, she confesses to having pale skin, wearing a lot of black, and sleeping in late whenever possible. Aside from writing, she enjoys reading, poetry, exploring old cemeteries, spelunking, and traveling - by car. Airplanes, children, and cookbooks frighten her.

A decent entry in the series

The fight scenes might just go on a bit too long - yeah, yeah, we get it already, you can't hit a ghost with your fists.

And the potential solution that could have been found in meeting with the Queen of the Ghouls was "discarded" so off-handedly that it seemed it was only discarded as an option by the author because that would have removed the suspense.

And their methods of dealing with the obstacles didn't really make logical sense: Madigan wants in your cave, which is privately owned, and you're doing private, non-illegal business there? Tell him to stay out. Don is following you and won't tell you anything? Explain to him that you're going to be killed if he keeps following you - if he continues to ignore your wishes, you know what side he's on, don't you. (This whole thread seems to have been brought up, then just dropped - maybe it's intended for the next book in the series?)

That being said... it was a fast story that was resolved in the end, well, at least the main plot was resolved, not sure what's going to happen with the new head of the special ops... or with Don...

There wasn't any porn in it... I think there might have been some flowery sexual activity, but nothing graphic or detailed. Some swearing, but it fit the story. The narration is good and, all in all, it's a decent entry in the Night Huntress series.

I love this series

I'm sure that the Night Huntress novels are a bit over the top for some readers. It is definitely a romantic adventure. I thoroughly enjoy the characters, romance, humor and adventure. I highly recommend the series and can't wait for the next novel "Up From the Grave."

Oh Bones

Super exciting adventure as always. The Red Reaper strikes again. Filled with humor, action, romance and even a little historical fiction. I can't wait for the next installment.

Another good book in the series

Any additional comments?

Loved the book but it seemed to end abruptly. Seems like there needed to be another full chapter to wrap things up. I guess we'll have to see how this story line continues in book 7. Ms. Frost's website states that there will be a total of nine 'Night Huntress" novels. I can't wait for the next installment!

MORE GHOSTLY GOODNESS!

You begin to realize that you shouldn't underestimate the power of ghosts!

Cat & Bones end up joining forces with ghost friends to stop a murderous ghost obsessed with women he accuses to be witches. While Cat gets wrapped up in how to stop him, she ends up realizing that she too is part of his plans.

On top of this...Cat deals with her uncle now being a ghost and a new threat from her former team, while Bones gets a new power. :) Together, they are forced to come to a realization that they may have to choose between their relationship and their goal should they fail this first attempt.

There is a lot going on in this book! And it will most likely leave you wanting more as there are still some unanswered questions.

Terrific series

Would you listen to One Grave at a Time again? Why?

Loved every book in this series, and I would listen to anything narrated by Tavia Gilbert. She makes every character come alive with their own personality and quirks. I never felt like someone was reading me a book, but that I was listening to a story as it happened.

GREAT F####ING SERIES!!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES! This book and all the rest of the series. I'm hooked. If you like a good vampire book this series is defiantly one to get.

What was one of the most memorable moments of One Grave at a Time?

When Cat and Bones start their hunt for the ghost Heinrich Kramer.

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The way she captures each character in the books she reads it and can almost make it seem like you are watching a tv show or a movie you can visualize as she reads.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

(There's Always One More Grave To Dig). Or ( Bloody Hell Mate )

Any additional comments?

If you like a good vampire book you have to get this series.
