Publisher's Summary

Click your heels three times and say, "There's no place like Bloomies!"

Katie Chandler's life is pure magic - literally. As an executive assistant at Magic, Spells, and Illusions, Inc., she's seen more than her share of fantastical occurrences. A mere Manhattan mortal, Katie is no wizard, but she's a wiz at exposing "hokum" pocus, cloaked lies, and deceptive enchantments. And she's fallen under the all-too-human spell of attraction to Owen, a hunky wizard and coworker. Owen, however, is preoccupied. Someone has broken into his office and disrupted top-secret files, and it reeks of an inside job. CEO Merlin (yes, the Merlin) and taps Katie and her special ability to uncover the magical mole.

Keeping her feelings in check while sleuthing alongside Owen, Katie is shocked to discover that her immunity to magic is waning, putting her in grave danger. Soon she's surrendering to the charms and enchantments of everyone and everything around her, including a killer pair of red stilettos. Katie must now conjure up her natural instincts to get to the bottom of the break-in, regain her power, and win the wizard of her dreams.

    "Perfect narration. Awesome story "

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this series, but from the moment I started reading I was hooked. The hilarity of each situation, and plot twist. The incredible imagination of Shanna Swendson sucks you into this hysterical world with in NYC, of unexpected fairies, and trolls, gargoyles and magical folk. You will be laughing from one book to the next, and chomping at the bit for the next book to find where the crazy leads you. A must listen. The narration is perfect also. Eva Wilhem really brings these characters to life.

I'm a 30-something paranormal, mystery, and humor enthusiast. For me, the main character is the most important part of a book.

    "Better than the first."

Enchanted Inc was a fluff book. Very chick lit/rom com/light paranormal. It was okay, but not great. This edition had more mystery and more romance and was just overall more entertaining.

    "It's all about the Shoes..."

Cinderella knows that shoes can change your life and so does Katie Chandler. This second in the series is good and the author does a better than average job of catching up a reader without telling the whole story of the first book. The plot won't wow you, but the pleasure in these books are the atmosphere and world of magic that the author makes believable. These books are upbeat and realistic, believe it or not.

"Alice in Wonderland meets Harry Potter"

Enchanted Inc. is the first in the series from author Shanna Swendson. This is a fun chick series that is a mystery, an adventure, and a romantic comedy which is lighthearted, magical, and fun.

There are characters you'll love and remember. The heroin, Katie, is “completely ordinary” in a universe of magic. This is a good thing.

For adults the series is “Alice in Wonderland” and “Harry Potter” all rolled into one. It is a mystical romp and a fun escape. Read and enjoy.

    Story
    "Interesting."
Would you listen to Once Upon Stilettos again? Why?

It was cute and I loved the romance side of it. It actually said "Aw" outloud a few times.

What did you like best about this story?

The premise is so interesting that it has me hooked. Plus a pair of shoes that makes every man want you? Sign me up!

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I loved her male voices and I wish Owen had more speaking parts. *Swoon* I had trouble with her accent she gave Katie's speaking voice. It drove me up the wall at times, especially when she put on her Texan accent. It was jarring and loud. Almost like Katie has a slight hearing problem and shouts everything she says. I liked the narration voice though. It was pleasant, soothing, and worked for me. Again, Audible included the first two chapters of the next book in the series, and I'm hooked again!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The scene where Katie is showing off her new outfit to her friends, parents, and friend's boyfriends and she thinks to herself: “Maybe that's what I'd been doing wrong all along. I'd been so worried about being practical that I'd forgotten about making myself special. If I didn't think I was special, why should anyone else? And I WAS special.”

    Any additional comments?

I actually liked this book much better than the first, which is a huge rarity for me. The only reason I read it is because Audible included the first two chapters at the end of the first book, and I was hooked. The plot moves much quicker in this book, but it is still a bit slow. The tension was built really nicely towards the climax of the book as well and had me on the edge of my seat. I like Katie, but she can be a thick now and again. It took her longer than I expected to realize her dilemma given all the proof she had and then she wouldn't tell anyone despite the horrific danger she was in. Owen had me swooning again, of course. I really like the character developments for him and many of the other characters in this book.

    "Please Get a New Narrator"
    Any additional comments?

I love this whole series, it's imaginative, fun, and totally relatable if you're a small-towner who's left home. But the narrator mispronounces things, emphasizes strange parts of the sentence and, unlike the main character, has no discernible Texan accent. A large number of the characters are from Texas. That really should be something you get down.

I've always loved books. Even before I could read I've loved them. Fact or Fiction, I love books. I'd sooner read a book than see a movie.

"Not all job romances are bad"
Would you consider the audio edition of Once Upon Stilettos to be better than the print version?

I really enjoy listening to this audio edition of Once Upon Stilettos, because each character is brought to life by the narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

Thinking about how the roommates have boyfriends who were once frogs or thought they were a frog. It just cracks me up.

What about Eva Wilhelm’s performance did you like?

Each character was done well, but I love her gargoyle the best.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I felt bad for a character who has to use a illusion spell all the time, because he doesn't feel good about himself.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I tend to get frustrated when I figure things out way before a character does - end up mentally shouting at them to get a clue. I liked the first novel in the series quite a bit, but I got really annoyed with Katie in this one. Am debating if I'll move on to the third book.

Would you be willing to try another book from Shanna Swendson? Why or why not?

    Maybe.

Where does Once Upon Stilettos rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the second in the series of MSI Inc and again much like the first. Light hearted shenanigans but a little seriousness on the side to. I enjoyed it and I rated it accordingly.

What did you like best about this story?

Easy going listen with just enough intrigue to keep you listening.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

When Katies parents come to visit.. Eye opening for both Katie and MSI .

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Made me laugh .
