Publisher's summary

Bahzell is no knight in shining armor, and besides he has too many problems of his own to be messing with anybody else's problems - let alone the War God's. Unfortunately, the War God has other ideas for him.

Audio was as good as the book

What made the experience of listening to Oath of Swords the most enjoyable?

I had read this story a few years ago, and I loved David Weber's humor throughout the story. I was still very entertained listening to this audio book. The narrator was able to capture the humor very well, and his use of many different voices made knowing the characters very easy. The pace of the reading was just right.

very underwhelming

I ended up finishing the book so I shouldn't trash it too bad but sheesh it was hard to finish. The world building was poor and you never felt that the main character was in any danger to lose a fight. I could go on but you get the picture.

A new spin on Mythology.

David Weber has come up with a story that is enjoyable to read and listen to. His ideas are refreshing when it comes to myths about the gods of old. I really enjoy this series.

Great story of the irreverent hero.

The character interactions and personalities were really fun. There was also a non-stop level of excitement, and it was one of those stories you just can't put down.

What does Nick Sullivan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has such an excellent rendition of the witty banter between the characters that it brings a whole new level to the entertainment provided by the story.

Unique Fantasy world with some wry humor

This a fairly unique and finely detailed Fantasy world with than a bit of wry humor. While it can be a bit over the top, just listening to the tale makes you want to sing the lay of the bloody-hand. All in all it is an enchanting tale that is well worth a read.

Where is the romance??

What made the experience of listening to Oath of Swords the most enjoyable?

The narrator make the characters individual. I can identify everyone and can almost see what they look like and what they all are capable of. I really like the way they make me laugh the vulnerabilities. The respect is very really. I have gone to sleep and shook my self awake so I can finish a chapter. I really like this book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bahzell and his friend that is of a whole other race. He is so funny I like the way he just ride Bahzell. I also like the way the author is making a mystery of his god choice.

Have you listened to any of Nick Sullivan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes he does. He makes a distinction between each place and person. How they arrived at the place the are. Pasts are explained clearly to let you know why the are the way they are. The revelations of past mistakes are so eye opening it makes me draw breathe. I will be looking for this author again.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nothing. The change of voices makes you know who is speaking and what race they are from.

Any additional comments?

Well he could not give so much description of landscape and more romance.

Too Animated

The performer is a poor reader. He is over working his voice trying to make the story exciting where it is supposed to be a normal voice. The names of the characters are difficult as so many sound nearly the same.

There is too much history alluded to that presupposes the listener has read a previously published serial, but there is none. Otherwise it seams that the book was written overnight without the use of a HUMAN editor. But then that seems to be the case with most modern tomes.
