Dr. Sophie Winston and her team of survivors fend off the alien invasion in Orbs II: Stranded, the second book in Nicholas Sansbury Smith's best-selling Orbs series.
At the end of the world, who can you trust? The aliens have invaded, wiping out almost all life on earth. Their goal: water. Huge spaceships are draining the oceans, and the few remaining humans have been herded into farms, where their bodies are harvested to support the growing alien army.
Humanity's last chance lies in the biospheres that have been planted secretly across the globe. But all is not peaceful in the biosphere led by Dr. Sophie Winston. With resources dwindling and tensions high, her small group of survivors is divided. Some want to fight, some want to stay hidden, and Sophie just wants to keep everyone alive.
When one of their own, 11-year-old Jeff, is kidnapped by the Organics, Sophie is forced to pick sides. With the help of a promising new magnetic weapon, the biosphere team just might have a fighting chance to save Jeff and the world - if they live long enough to use it.

Science, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Military History, Thrillers, Great Courses, Horror, and anything with a good story. Please forgive errors.
The characters are still very stereotypical but there are more of them and some very interesting ethical dilemmas occur that force most people to pick a side and see how the situation unravels. It is a good addition to the story and you begin to understand what the aliens are and what they seem to be after.
Story is totally engrossing! Characters are engaging and aliens are scary. Perfect book for weekend binge read. I went straight from Orbs - Book One to Book Two and I am starting Book Three.
I had to get Kindle version of this series because I can read faster. I am enjoy using both Audible and Kindle so I can rest my eyes.
Finally! I've waited for this book for almost a year now. It was totally worth it. Stranded is full of action and answers to the questions posed in the first book. There is tension and stress as the survivors deal with the ongoing invasion. Sophie and Overton begin to hit heads over the future of the biosphere. I liked this one more than Orbs.
the story is well written, interesting, intelligently written, and has some very good descriptive writing going for it. I love the development of the ai, and while there unrealistic aspects it's a very good read/listen
Very intense. I thought it was better than the first and I loved the first. Nick Smith is turning into one of my favorite authors. Come on Orbs 3.
If you enjoyed Orbs book 1 enough to continue on you won't be disappointed with book 2. More is revealed about the aliens and more questions about NTC. Lots of exciting battles and maybe the humans have a chance, but the earth is looking pretty grim without much water left. I'm looking forward to reading Orbs 3.
Half added crazy
Try to only listen when I exercise. Found myself exercising longer or sneaking a listen while doing something else. Subsequently, I got through it wanting more!
Fast-paced, imaginative and the actor vividly brings the story to life.
The pace, the action, the creepy aliens.
Her performance perfectly complements the story.
The valor and sense of sacrifice of the characters.
This sequel takes the promise of the first book, cranks up the action and mystery and takes the whole experience to the next level.
