"Gorean: Love it or Hate it...."but""

First of all, you either love or hate this series, but it has survived and has thousands of fans who love Norman's world and some who even incorporate elements of his philosophy into their lives. I read the series as a young man and have always loved it and perhaps it saved me from the ruins of feminism.

The books are well read and I hope you create audible versions of all twenty-six...I will buy them all and encourage others who love the Gorean saga to do the same.

HOWEVER...the female parts need to be voiced by a female....instead of sounding realistic, it sounds stupid to have female voices read by a male. I would pay extra for this and think it would be so much more enjoyable.

    "Chuvanistic, Clichee and very Interesting"

You can not expect (hope but not expect) different from a 60's Sifi/Fantasy writer who makes very clear differences between the Dominent Male and the Submissive female. If this would bother you in a book; leave it alone.

Norman can make a world come to life. Although the main character is a bit 2 dimensional and again clicheed somehow the story line and description of the world still intriguies me. It may be the fact that i read this for the first time in the 60's or it may just be the clarity and simplicity of the story and characters but i liked it. So much so that i did get the following books and will continue to get them as quickly as Audibel get's them on line.

Handle with care but otherwise a good "take me away from this place" read!

    "Gorean Saga"

The Gorean series is basically Conan the barbarian meets a smut novel on another world. There's lots of violent battles and vicious giant man eaters with a dash BDSM. The series gets a little repetitive as the books go on but not to badly for a 20 plus book series. If you liked the John Carter in 'A Princess of Mars' series most likely you'll enjoy these books there very similar. I prefer the Gorean series myself, except the ones narrated by women which I haven't bought so don't know if there good or not I personal dislike women narrates.

"I think I am done with this series."

The Gor series has always been a balancing act for me between love of adventure and disgust regarding female rape and brutality. This volume has tipped the balance and the adventure begins to take a back seat. For others the line seems to come in the next couple of volumes I just have to leave it with this one. If I could, I would have given the story a 2 and a half as it was half good. The narration is great.

"One of my all time favorites, Part 2"

I made an error in my review of Priest Kings, but other then forgetting which book the character Elizabeth comes in, it is still valid and really applies to this book too. I've known Tarl Cabot for most of my life. Ralph Lister is the perfect person to read him. This is my 3rd time through the first 5 books of the series, and this recording made it all new to me again. I really think Priest Kings and Nomads are one book. If you have problems with the subject matter in John Norman's book, the my review won't matter. Taken together, Priest Kings and Nomads make a five star book to me. It is funny, the first person in translation is brilliant, and I will always remember some of the characters I met during Tarl Cabot's struggles on the counter earth. Thank you for bringing it to life for me. I'd love to have audio recordings of all 26, even though I still haven't finished "Witness." I keep putting it off because I don't want it to end.

What disappointed you about Nomads of Gor?

The voices used for main charecter sin this book are terrible, irritating at best. I love the Gor series, but this makes it worthless to listen to .
