Publisher's summary

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

For three days battle has raged in the snow around the great city of Tar Valon. In the city, a Foretelling of the future is uttered. On the slopes of Dragonmount, the immense mountain that looms over the city, is born an infant prophesied to change the world. That child must be found before the forces of the Shadow have an opportunity to kill him.

Moiraine Damodred, a young Accepted soon to be raised to Aes Sedai, and Lan Mandragoran, a soldier fighting in the battle, are set on paths that will bind their lives together. But those paths are filled with complications and dangers, for Moiraine, of the Royal House of Cairhien, whose king has just died, and Lan, considered the uncrowned king of a nation long dead, find their lives threatened by the plots of those seeking power.

New Spring begins Moiraine and Lan's quest to find the Dragon Reborn that will lead to the events of The Eye of the World...and their fateful meeting with Rand al'Thor.

New Spring is a perfect jumping-on point for fantasy listeners wanting to know more about The Wheel of Time and the forthcoming TV show.

Fantastic

Overall I love RJ. I’ve got his paper bound books and just started on the audio version so I can do other things while listening. The narration was pretty good, tad dry on Mr. Kramer’s part but overall it’s a 5. On to listening to Book 1!

A good read, although short.

As most Wheel of Time books go. I love them, the universe is immense and characters are deep. I read this book last after the others. I wish I had read it earlier when Jordan had first made it.

Love Robert Jordan!

Lan and Moiraine's tale of bonding brings an introduction to the entire story of the Wheel of Time for which I, like so many fans, have been yearning.

Loved every minute!

As an avid fan of this book series, listening to it was a whole new experience. I've read the series through, twice, but hearing it narrated in this way was such a delight! I can't wait to listen to The Eye of the World!

Interesting start to the series

I am just starting the Wheel of Time series and look forward to reading this series. The storyline of the prequel is enjoyable and it was an interesting read. I have no insight into the series so not sure yet how the prequel sets up the rest of the story. I am not a big fan of the two narrators, but they grow on you as the story moves along.

Good book marred by Audible's performance

Would you try another book from Robert Jordan and/or Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ?

I'm currently working through Wheel of Time, so I would definitely keep reading Jordan's books.

Any additional comments?

Audible's bookmark system didn't work well. I can only fast forward and rewind at an 8x rate, couldn't skip around to find my place, and when I marked a bookmark on my Kindle app, it wouldn't show up or line up on the web player for Audible meaning I always had to spent exorbitant amounts of time trying to find my place... Also the sections don't seem to line up well with chapters, since there are fewer sections than chapters. This made for a painful reading process. This was my first attempt on Audible and I'm right now considering if I want to make a second attempt or give up altogether on it.
