A fun listen

Ilona Andrews book was great as usual.
Was surprised at how good Meljean Brooks was. I had not listened to any of her other books before. Well written and delivered. Nalini Singh's story was ok. Charlaine Harris story was a disappointment.

Terrible narrator

I got this for the Ilona Andrews story and that was decent but the narrator’s off-putting droll intonation and wretched vocal fry was so distracting it kept pulling me out of the story. Her voice grated on my nerves so badly that I couldn’t even listen to the other stories. Not worth it!

Interesting Collection of Stories

What did you like best about Must Love Hellhounds? What did you like least?

The first two stories were really good. Based on this book, I will read the series by Nalini Singh. I found it very interesting. It was nicde having a Sookie book without Sookie.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I did not enjoy the second stories as well. They were well written and Johanna did a great job with the naration, they just were not what I enjoy.

What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ms Parker is such an excellent narrator. I first loved her with the Sookie Stackhouse series. She will always be the voice of Sookie for me. It was nice hearing her do other stories as well.

Could you see Must Love Hellhounds being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

It would be hard to be made into a movie or TV series because it contains four short stories from established series. They could make a one-off True Blood movie off the Non-Sookie story.

Sing song narration - decent stories

Another novella collection I bought solely for the Ilona Andrews story, Magic Mourns. The other stories with exception of 'The Britlingens Go To Hell' were compelling. But Johanna Parker's narration was exceptionally tedious with every phrase delivered in a sing-song cadence and very little emotion. She likes the sound of her voice more than offering a connection to the characters. Much more enjoyable to read in print than to listen to. Maybe I'm spoiled by the likes of Tavia Gilbert and others.

not all hellhounds are the same....

It is a good light, very light, PG-13 listen. Nothing to swoon over but it gets you through a traffic jam. Not all the stories even had hellhounds in them, so that was a stretch and seemed forced by the publisher. The romances were light, character mostly interesting, sex-scenes very YA-- not gonna get the blood pumping thats for sure. Nalini Singh was, of course, the best story of the lot-- but i am a big fan of hers so no surprise there. I have not read Harris previously-- & not sure i want to after this short story. Andrews: I read one of her books and now might go back and give her another try! Brook-- well she might surprise us one of these days.
Overall, not bad, but certainly nothing earth shattering or to write a gushing review about. Good clean fun, as they say.

I'm glad I purchased it. Well worth the credit.

if you're a fan of even 1 of the authors I recommend purchasing multiple short stories, and you get exposure to a few authors u maybe are not familiar with. I became invested in a couple of new stories and will check out their "worlds."

I purchased the book not only for Illona Andrews but also because I enjoy the many voices and inflections of the narrator, Johanna Parker.

My only dislike is the chapters don't list where 1 story starts and ends. In multi-story books, that is always very helpful- I'm in the middle of a story I want to check into, and I have no idea which author wrote it.

Bad-Descent-OK

The firs story was weak and tied to sell you with its erotica. I found myself wishing I hadn’t purchased the book. While Ilona’s book was descent it has little to do with the Kate Daniels story line. The last story wasn’t bad but not Ilona’s quality. I wouldn’t bother with it.

Great stories!

These are great stories by some wonderful and popular authors- I read this book a couple of times and decided to spend the credit- I knew the entertainment I was getting.

Johanna Parker gives an excellent performance- with the exception of pronouncing valet as val-et with an e and hard 't' instead of the French way va-lay. Do they not do a sound edit just like they would edit a written page?

Regardless, I found this book a good deal and the cost of a credit. Enjoy!

Typical of multiple story books but with a theme.

The theme is that all of the stories have hellhounds in them but they are all different.
Some stories are very good and some are lukewarm. Same with the narrators but it is worth the purchase. Same goes for magazines.
