Publisher's summary

A man must survive the zombie apocalypse armed with only a shotgun, a Samurai bat, and the will to live among the unliving in this horror series debut.

It’s been two years since civilization ended in an unstoppable wave of chaos and blood. Now, former house painter Augustus “Gus” Berry lives a day-to-day existence of waking up, getting drunk, and preparing for the inevitable moment when “they” will come up the side of his mountain and penetrate his fortress.

Living on the outskirts of Annapolis, Gus goes scavenging for whatever supplies remain in the undead suburbia below. Every time he descends the mountain could be his last. But when Gus encounters another survivor, he soon realizes the zombie horde may not be the greatest threat he faces . . .

very engaging story can't wait for the next book

so far a great series. I can't wait for the next book. you really can't beat zombies and the added suspense of a killer on the loose.

Well done

I will give the second book a chance and if that’s good will revisit this novel as I like to do. Interesting characters and story line. Good action and a some cliff hangers that make you want more. Can go wrong with the man RC reading, he is simply the best. Thanks.

Much Fun

If anytime one can say “Fun” about the End of Civilization due to A Zombie Outbreak it is because you’ve read/or listened to Mountain Man. I have read and listen to many Zombie related fiction - but- I actually was laughing many times during this one. The characters are well developed, storyline keeps you interested. As with ALL works that R. C . Bray narrates he manages to bring to life all the characters in the story . Love Love R.C. Now I have another favorite Author: Mr. Keith C. Blackmore . Going onto Mountain Man 2.

America

In the states, we have a different way of thinking. This book takes place in Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
The description clearly states that it is about a zombie apocalypse. I've watched one, or two zombie movies in my day, and i always expected to be grossed out. If you decide to "go for it" and read this novel expect the same. I enjoyed this book, I knew what it would be what it is, a zombie survival novel. If you can't handle it, don't read it.

drinking Gus

Drinking as a way to cope. Who's your friend and who's your enemy. that is the real question.

A fun ride

Gus is a loveable anti hero. It is nice to have a main character in a zombie world that doesn’t have all the answers.

Best series in this category!

Funny and real. The main character makes dumb mistakes throughout the story. Just like you would. Perfect pace, narration and storyline. This book and series kept me up nights, just to see what’s around the corner. You must have this on your list.
