Mostly Harmless Audiobook

Mostly Harmless

It's not just a trilogy any more. In the fifth book of this popular series, Arthur Dent makes the terrible mistake of starting to enjoy life, and immediately all hell breaks loose. In short, it's up to him to save the world from total multi-dimensional obliteration, the Guide from a hostile alien takeover, and the daughter he never knew he had, from herself. A tall order, to say the least. And one he's really not up to, thank you very much.

    "The end...."

Great story, however, was a little disappointed in the way it ended. so I guess I'm going on to the next book, AND ANOTHER THING.

    "Love Hitchiking"

Hitchhiker is just plain fun. I loved the series when i was young. I read it in college, and again in Med school, and again when i started reading for pleasure again, and now I am going to listen to them all.
I cannot wait. I just wish Douglas was alive for more, but I am about to read Coffer's installment (or try) for a 6th book in the series.

"Most boring Douglas Adams book I've heard"

I love Douglas Adam's earlier books, but this was just boring. It really lacks the fun of earlier books.

"Not the best of the bunch."

It is , in my opinion, the weakest in the series. Seems a bit disjointed and boring and has an unsatisfying ending. Still worth a listen if you're a fan but maybe revisit the others afterwards to remind yourself why you liked this series in the first place.

    "Mostly confusingly funny"

This sequel has a surprising ending, delivers mind boggling scenarios that keeps the reader/listener repeating phrasing just to keep up. The listener is Arthur Dint and you have to be Ford to navigate through the knot the universe becomes.

    "Great book"

I loved the story and it was read very well. Unexpected things were always around the corner and Freedman did a very good job of telling them. Readers of all sorts will love this book ( even though there is no Marvin

    "The Finale"

In Mostly Harmless, Adams' brings the Hitchhikers' series ti a fitting close. It is a bit more seriious than the other books, still very funny though, but also contains one of the greates scenes of domesticity in English literature - the description of "The Sandwich Maker". There is a lot of modern cosmology hidden in this book - Adams certainly relied on Multiverse theories to create the stage for his work.

But all that aside - it is a very enjoyable listen, albeit in a slightly different fashion than some of the earlier books. The comic criticism of some elements of modern life is hard to miss...
