Publisher's summary

Monster Hunter International might be the premier monster eradication company in the business, but they’ve got competition.

When hunters from around the world gather in Las Vegas for a conference, a creature left over from a World War Two weapons experiment wakes up and goes on a rampage across the desert. A not-so-friendly wager between the rival companies turns into a race to see who can bag the mysterious creature first. Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

Critic reviews

"Oliver Wyman narrates the entire tale with a swagger in his voice. Even the chapter headings sound aggressive. His characters are so unique that at times listeners may think there's a second narrator." ( AudioFile)

Each book in series getting better.

What did you love best about Monster Hunter Legion?

I loved everything. OZP, Julie, everyone is back in one way or another (if your following the series) The Monsters, the Magic, the weapons of mass destruction, and yet it ain't over.

What other book might you compare Monster Hunter Legion to and why?

The closest thing is "Army of Darkness" but it really does not compare. This is so different and edgier.

Which character – as performed by Oliver Wyman – was your favorite?

Owen Z. Pitt, his Brother Mosh, and Earl are just a few of my favorites.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have but I did have to sleep.....LOL.

Any additional comments?

I am so hungry for the next book in this series, and I hope we won't have to wait foo long. Larry Correia's other series "Hard Magic" is also really good and still waiting for book three on that one. I'm totally hooked on Larry Correia. BTW on the "Hard Magic" series Bronson Pinchot does the narration and he is totally AWESOME. He narrates "Presidents Vampire" series which is really excellent.

Good fun, but not as good as the other 3 MHI books

If you are a fan of the whole MHI world then you already have this book so stop reading.
If you have not read Monster Hunter International, then don’t start here. Start with 1st book then if you become a fan like me you will buy this book. Now talking to other fans to me this is the weakest of the book so far.

Great Book Again!

Where does Monster Hunter Legion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would have to say this book ranks in my top fifteen books I have listened to on Audible.

What did you like best about this story?

It followed along with the story so far and combined the characters from Monster Hunter Alpha into the plot.

What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings the characters to life and puts the right inflection on the dialogue that may have been missed when reading.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Most of Larry's Books I want to listen to in one sitting, but I have to eat, work, sleep, and shower. His books are very enthralling.

Book 4 - Another Awesome Installment

This series is amazing! Best if you read the first three books first so you dont miss any of the essential back story. The story of "Z" is amazing. I hope this is not the final installment as I truly enjoy these stories. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys action with some fantasy elements. These are well written and have the right amount of realism and fantasy to make a fun and exicting listen. The narrator is amazing! The voices given to the characters have become the only way I can imagine these characters. This is a fun read!

Best MHI Book To Date

You know, often it seems hard to top the first book in a series when everything is so fresh and new. Well, four books later I am amazed at how much this series has progressed. Unlike some authors I don't find Larry Correia unnecessarily repeating himself and providing dull moments. This book's predecessor focused on Earl Harbinger in a side story. Now in book four Owen Zastava Pitt is back and keeping Las Vegas safe with his normal badassery while attending the first monster hunter convention. Suffice to say, there is no lack of action and humor as Owen shoots, kicks, punches, and is in the center of enough general mayhem to blast him into a nightmare dimension. For the most part this book is about the convergence of forces in the battle of good versus evil. Characters from Earl Harbingers book 3 make an appearance and we get a look at monster hunters from around the world. We also find some new possibilities for ongoing bad guys. At the end of the novel Pitt and his brother are finally heading to confront their dad for his last story. It seems the next tale in this series will be very promising. I can't wait.

Don't Trust the Government

OK, I screwed up and listened to this one out of order, it is the fourth book in the series when I should have been reading the third, Monster Hunter Alpha. Luckily the third book focuses on Earl so much that reading them out of order didn’t mess up the story line for me too much. But when you read them, I highly recommend reading them in the correct order.

Oliver Wyman continues to narrate the audio book and does so with great success.

If you are the type that does not trust the government and believes that they would do anything to create bigger and better weapons, even human experimentation, then this book is for you.

I am amazed at the amount of character development Larry Correia is able to slip in between the high-speed action of his stories. Owen and Julie’s relationship continues to grow and Mosh even gets to grow all while the action never pauses to take a breath. Great stuff.

Just love this series.

If you could sum up Monster Hunter Legion in three words, what would they be?

Fun, action packed.

What did you like best about this story?

The variety of characters with their wide range of personality as well as the vivid action scenes.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Skippy tells Ed to throw the elf Tonya from the helicopter, to placate the rotor spirits.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh yes, I had a hard time taking breaks.

Any additional comments?

I love everything about this world and its characters. I've even read the short story "Tanya: Princess of the Elves". Hope more Monster Hunter books come soon.

Larry Correia Doing What He Does Best

Where does Monster Hunter Legion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Monster Hunter Legion takes up where Alpha left off and takes the entire Monster Hunter Universe to a whole new level by expanding and adding personalities to what it means to be a monster hunter.

What did you like best about this story?

Correia kept his focus where it belongs, on the perspective of his first hero, Owen Pitt.

Which character – as performed by Oliver Wyman – was your favorite?

However, and as always, the most outstanding supporting character in all of Correia's books are the toys and firearms he uses to wreak mayhem on monsters everywhere.

Any additional comments?

I can't wait to see where he takes MHI next.

Correia delivers epic monster action in every book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Sometimes you just need to have monsters and heroes. Correa is always fresh and fun, and yeah - epic on a grand scale. Just like with his "Grimnoir Chronicles" he will take you places you never expected with thrills and action. This is the 4th in the Monster hunter series - hope he keeps going. Be sure to read the other three first.

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Wyman does a terrific job of characterizing each person in the story. He was a great choice.

Great Action Series & Good 4th Book

If you're reading this review then you'r probably an avid fantasy reader. Either way ALL of the books in the Monster Hunter series are great! This installment follows the hunters to a business conferance in Vegas & that's where the guns, hunters, & monsters come together for an action packed story. The author is into to guns & it shows but the story line is good, humerous, & keeps you interested. Worth the credit & I will certainly buy the next book in the series.
