Editorial reviews

The best-selling author Cat Adams brings us this magical romance with her customarily complex plots, fantastic characters, and a good measure of magic. This novel works on an epic scale - world saving, and the enslavement of humanity. It's lucky the protagonists are up for the job - they are heroes of great magnitude. Upon hearing Tara Ochs' sweet, excitable voice narrating this epic novel, listeners will be tempted to fall into this surreal, alternate reality forever. Fans of Adams' books will not be disappointed by this audiobook.

Publisher's summary

They were destined to save the world from an ancient evil. Talos is a magic wielder, born into the mage guild of firecrafters. As an agent of the Overworld Police, he has come from a secret land to protect Earth from magicians intent on enslaving humanity. Mila has always had the gift of healing. But this very modern woman never realized that her skill was born of an ancient magic that only firecraft can fully unlock.

Together, Tal and Mila discover that the source of their powers is in unity. Love's shining light might burn them alive protecting the magic of the world, but if the Tree of Life dies, and all the magic in the world is extinguished... will it matter?

Why does it have to devolve into soft core porn?

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story stood fine by itself. I'm not a prude but I don't really want to listen to the way he 'pleasured her with his tongue in the silky folds of skin between her legs' or the way he 'tugged at her erect nipples'.

Would you be willing to try another book from Cat Adams? Why or why not?

I've read or listened to the other series she's written which I enjoyed. At times they became a little more graphic than I prefer but it was a little more integral to the story.

Which character – as performed by Tara Ochs – was your favorite?

I loved the Bobba. The accent was wonderful and her range in ages and well as sexes was quite good.

Could you see Magic's Design being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Maybe. Even though she might be a little older than the character is in the book I think Kate Winslet would be great.

Weak on the ending

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I thought the ending was a little weak. The whole book lead to the confrontation with the 'bad guy' only to conclude with very little fanfare

Any additional comments?

I could do without the soft-porn, I ended up skipping over those sections.
