Publisher's summary

Plagued by a war between magic and technology, Atlanta has never been so deadly. Good thing Kate Daniels is on the job. She may have quit the Order of Merciful Aid, but she's still knee-deep in paranormal problems. Or she would be if she could get someone to hire her. Starting her own business has been more challenging than she thought it would be - now that the Order is disparaging her good name, and many potential clients are afraid of getting on the bad side of the Beast Lord, who just happens to be Kate's mate.

So when Atlanta's premier Master of the Dead calls to ask for help with a vampire on the loose, Kate leaps at the chance of some paying work. Turns out this is not an isolated incident, and Kate needs to get to the bottom of it - fast, or the city and everyone dear to her might pay the ultimate price.

😻

I'm really wishing I had more credits. Having to wait a no th in between each book sucks. I thought I'd read this one but I guess I hadn't. A very good one.

Excellent as always

I was worried about Kate and Kern being together in this one but it fell out even better for me. I don't care all that much for romance in my UF books when I want sexy stuff I buy PR. This was perfect! Action action action! I laughed and cried and got mad. There are so many new avenues opened in this book that it makes me feel that the series is just getting started in earnest. Everything that came before was just an intro.

Excellent book, authors and narrator

I really enjoy this series and am addicted. Next book in series does not come out until Aug2015. Decided to reread the series.
This one not only provides more insight into Kate and Curran's relationship, but establishes new relationships with different magic bound people. It will be interesting to see how Julie evolves after this.
Also love that the supernatural community unites to fight a common enemy.

good books

I enjoy this series, but I wish Ms. Raudman was a stronger voice actor.

Another great book in the Kate Daniels Series

Kate and the gang are back and it's bloodier than ever with the war between magic and tech in full swing. Kate really tests her magical power in Magic Slays. You thought she was bad ass before? She is only getting better with each book.

"Hell was driving a blood-soaked van listening to two children dying in the backseat, while Grendel whined as if something were killing him."

What would Kate Daniels' book be without blood, gore and someone trying to kill her? Please that’s just another Tuesday for Kate.

Kate is dealing with a lot of changes in her personal and professional life. She is no longer working for The Order; she and Andrea open up a P.I. business together. Then there’s the whole learning how what it means to be the mate to Curran and helping him run the pack. And let’s not forget Kate’s daughter-like teen, Julie.

Things start of slow in the P.I. department until Kate and Andrea get their first case. Danger is around every corner solving that one.

Kate finds herself being a full time mother to Julie since her school kicked her out.

I love the fact that Kate and Curran doesn’t act like some old married couple. They are still kicking each other’s asses when it’s called for. They are a true team; they don’t back down from each other but they totally support each other.

“Yes I can,” Curran snarled. “Listen: this is me telling you what you will not do.”
I raised the cookbook and tapped him on the nose. Bad cat.”

Magic Slays is in true Kate Daniels form; it a must read for fans of the series. If you have not tried the series you really should if you like Urban Fantasy series with a really strong heroine. Andrews has built a very interesting world and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Narrator Overly Dramatic

What did you love best about Magic Slays?

Absolutely love the storyline- I originally read it on my Kindle, then thought I would enjoy it in audio form too- Boy was I ever wrong!! This narrator is hands down the worse Ive ever had to suffer through!

What other book might you compare Magic Slays to and why?

Dresden Files or Iron Druid Chronicles- I love them both

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Renée Raudman?

Lorelei King- she did a decent job on Patricia Brigg's River Marked

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Renee' is so overly dramatic that I just could not stand to listen to her for more than 40 minutes, tops. She drags out sentences and over-acts every single line- Arrrgh, extremely frustrating to listen to.

Any additional comments?

Even though I already have the entire series in print, I wouldve also bought all the audio books IF only Renee wasnt the narrator for them all. Sadly, I could only suffer through 2 of the audio versions until I called it quits.

I love Kate Daniels and her kick ads friends. All

All the Kate Daniels books contain action, romance and witty banter. I listen to her books when I am having a bad day or if I have a problem that I need to think through. Kate clears my head. I listen to all of the books over and over again always hearing something new that I didn't hear the first time through. I hope the Kate Daniels books continue for a while. I need the love and laughter the books contain. Her books are like family to me. Ilona Andrews, you go girl.

Edge of your seat adventure

Have you ever not wanted a story to end? This is the story I wished continued...and yes, I know it will in book 6. It's not the same. The anticipation of Hugh and Kate and Roland's showdown is looming ever closer. And I do NOT want that to happen anytime soon as I do not want to lose Kate and Curren. But there are so many unresolved issues which need to be addressed...the wait is a killer!
