Publisher's summary

Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard-living ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world - to engage in the turf war with the lessers. His heart belongs to a female vampire, Marissa, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. And if he can't have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers.

But fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, he's found by a miracle, and the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back, though even her love may not be enough to save him.

He always belonged

Where does Lover Revealed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Lover Revealed was about average for me. Although I like Butch and Marissa the story wasn't as interesting as the first three. I like that Butch has part of the dark side in him, but uses it for good.

What other book might you compare Lover Revealed to and why?

No I can't think of another story that compares with Lover Revealed.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene is when the Omega and the Scribe Virgin both appear in front of Butch when he is attending the Council meeting and bringing Lash back to his family after being caught dealing drugs.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Butch is depressed because Marisa won't speak to him, but she realizes that she is trying to force Butch's hand because she wants a certain outcome, just like her brother did to her and she goes back to him.

You don't have to wonder much ascot the Warden's.

I have always enjoyed Butch's story, finding his way to family, along with Marissa finding herself.

I want to like this series more...

I really like this series at its base level, but there's so many irritating things about it! Honestly, does JR Ward not know any other word for 'boot'?? 'Sh*t-kicker' over and over and OVER again!!! Extremely irritating to the point of distraction. And the way the men talk to each other is completely ridiculous. Yes, we get that they are giant badasses wearing giant badass "sh*t-kickers" (!!!), but is the bad, at times humorous, 'gangsta' vernacular necessary? It's very hard to believe that the guys in these stories, having lived as long as they have, actually speak this way. "Ya feel me my brotha? True?" Really? And the name dropping is very heavy-handed and extraneous. Telling the reader that Butch is hearing some specific rap song does not lend to the story. It only serves to irritate and create a mental road bump when you're listening. Again, the character's 'badassery' has been well established. The poor defenseless reader/listener doesn't need that message slammed home any more times.

But as for this specific book, Butch's story is very interesting and I'm glad it was explored further. The back and forth and constant miscommunication with Marissa was at times too annoying and ridiculous to be believable though. But so far, this book has been the best in the series.

Great read, wonderful listen.

Would you listen to Lover Revealed again? Why?

I read the entire series first. I fell in love with the characters, the story line and the love scenes. When I joined Audibles, I bought the series so that my daughter, with dyslexia, could "read" them on her Nano. I started listening on my computer while I checked my email and became hooked all over again. I have now downloaded the entire series on my Nano and listen while I do my housework, sure livens up dusting!!!!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Butch. He's street smart, with a great wonderful sense if loyalty to the brothers.

What does Jim Frangione bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I gave him 4 stars because his voice is too soothing for the story line, but that is exactly why my daughter has started looking for other books by him.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All the love scenes. And what he went through to join the brotherhood

Loving this series

Each book represents another character while still including past, still loved, characters stories. Love it.

One of my favorites

I'm editing this review after a fresh listen. I think the choppiness that I mentioned earlier doesn't detract from the story. Marissa and Butch obviously have the big hurdle -- his pjysical bumanity -- but they also face cultural differences that are highlight by the breaks.

Original review: I love Butch and Vicious. I don't know how much of this is bc of their relationship.... Butch finally rages against all of the "just a human" crap. Marissa kicks propriety to the curb. V's life falls to crap.

I love the story but knocked off a star because the flow feels off when compared to the other books. It is choppy.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I was presently surprised with the story line. butch was not the story I thought would be so entangled with so many different aspects. great book.

Finally all available

I love this series. My only disappointment has been that they were not all available on audio. They finally are. This is not my favorite book in the series, but it is still great.
