Publisher's summary

Before she met Dragos, half-human half-Wyr Pia Giovanni was alone and on the run. Now, she's mated, pregnant, and heading south to repair the Wyr's frayed relationship with the Elves. Being separated from Dragos is painful, but for the good of the Wyr demesne they need to figure out how to be partners, in more places than just the bedroom.

In New York to preside over the Sentinel Games, Dragos is worried about his mate, but knows that finding two replacement sentinels is essential to show the rest of the Elder Races just how strong and brutal the Wyr demesne can be. But as the games heat up, Pia's negotiations with the Elves take a turn for the dangerous, straining her bond with Dragos and threatening everything they hold dear.

Best of the series

This is the fifth book in a series that for some reason Audible doesn't have grouped as a series. I guess the title makes that pretty clear but these really should be read in the series order to get the most enjoyment out of the story.

This series is one of many where there are a group of strong male characters who get paired off with their true loves, one per book. This group of strong male characters also happen to be paranormal and immortal. Neither of these characteristics are in any way unique or unusual, the market is flooded. So here's the difference: Great characters, really interesting and powerful and funny and vulnerable and of course sexy and strong. The plots are also interesting and suspenseful and well researched. The narrator does a great job and she really adds to the story.

The main reason I'm giving this one such an enthusiastic review is that this author chose to do something fairly unusual for the genre. She went back to a previous "pair" and gave them a second book. I like it, especially because the two main characters are from Book 1 and are really the most interesting of all of the couples. Good idea, and I hope more authors follow suit. The ending of this book is wonderful. Ms. Harrison has created quite a few strong characters that are still unattached so I'm hoping she'll continue the series... I'll be buying.

Omg

Well, some things are worth waiting for and Lord's Fall definitely falls into that category. I've wanted more Pia and Dragos since I read the final page in Dragon Bound. Sure, readers were treated to a glimpse of them every now and then in the other Elder Races books, but those glimpses weren't nearly enough. Besides that, Dragos is a totally different character when he is dealing with his Wyr than he is when he interacts with Pia. To be honest, he's a jerk. (He'll be the first to tell you that Pia makes him a better person, so see, it's not just me ;) )

Lord's Fall had Pia and Dragos separated throughout a good portion of the book. That was OK though because they found 'creative' ways to be together. Thea Harrison also helped the illusion along by having them remember the special moments that they spent together. Those moments were great because they showed how far they had come as a couple, even though they had only been together for a short amount of time. Switching the POV between the two also worked really well because there was a lot of crazy stuff going on for both of them. Through it all though, they were an integral part of each other. I love this couple!

Dragos and Pia weren't the only characters that I loved in Lord's Fall. A few new characters as well as those that readers have already been introduced to fill the pages with plenty of humor, action, and tension. I loved the interactions between these characters. They are like a bunch of misbehaved kids at times, including Pia and Dragos, but they have their priorities where they need to be and are ready to go when danger strikes. On a side note, one of my favorite characters in this one totally took me by surprise. I never would have thought at the beginning that He would be my favorite. Peanut not born yet. But the interaction between Pia and the baby is Priceless Dragon is going to have his hands full lol.

Along with Pia's mission to work out an alliance with the Elves, Dragos was hosting a contest to replace his lost sentinels. The crew that came out on top of that competition is going to prove to be an interesting mix. I can't wait to see how well they work together - yes, there was a tad bit of sarcasm there. Just a tad. ;)

The final battle was brutal, the romance was as hot as ever and the dialogue was perfect. Severed alliances were strengthened (through gritted teeth and a lot of coaxing from their perspective mates - but it happened.) There were also some adorable and at times intense scenes with 'Peanut.' There just isn't anything not to love about this series. Honestly.

I might have to start this series over soon. After I finished I didn't want it to be over. the final chapter ended on a perfect note, but I want more! I know, I'm a greedy reader, but if you have been following this series I'm sure you understand. If you haven't started the Elder Races yet, go find a copy of Dragon Bound now... you can thank me later ;)

PIa and Dragos are the best

Another great installment of the Elder Races. Pia has a major role. She was invited previously by the elves to visit and decides to take them up on it. Of course, it gets dangerous and goes south pretty fast. There is a new character, Eve, who will be PIa's guard. They have some good banter. Dragos must come and save the day, but this time, it's too much for him. Everyone needs to pull their weight to get out of this mess. The Sentinel games take place to replace Rune and Tiago from the past books, so there are new Sentinel characters introduced as well. I like anything with Dragos and Pia and this is another good one.

Seriously fantastic

This was absolutely awesome. A bit different from the other books, but honestly I think I enjoyed this one as much if not more. It built on everything the other books have built and was absolutely phenomenal. Really really enjoyed this book.

Sorry for yelling..

Any additional comments?

THE PERSON WHO GAVE THIS ONE STAR AND COMPLAINED BECAUSE DRAGOS WASN'T IN IT DIDN'T READ THE BOOK AT ALL! DRAGOS WAS ALL THROUGH THE BOOK: MAKING LOVE TO PIA TWICE IN A DREAM-SPELL, GOING THROUGH DAYS AS HE SAW TO THE SENTINAL GAMES, FLYING TO SOUTH CAROLINA AND GOING INTO BATTLE FOR THE ELVEN, MAKING LOVE TO HER AGAIN WHEN THEY GOT HOME, TAKING HER ON A HONEYMOON AND BEING WITH HER WHEN SHE HAD THE BABY.HOW MUCH MORE COULD YOU WANT? I almost believed that reviwer and didn't buy this book because I really didn't want to read a book with just Pia and a new group of her protectors but then I went to Audible.com and there was page after page of five star reviews so I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. It was real close to being as good as Dragon Bound. And believe me when I tell you you'll just love her new crew, especially Eva.I bought both the Audible and Kindle books because I love to read along and I have to say the narrator did an incredible job. She should give lessons to all the *blah* narrators out there.

Pia meets the Deus Machinae

Pia accepts the Elves’ invitation to visit Charleston to both learn more about her mother, and to attempt peace with between courts. She gets drawn in to Elven history which returns with a vengeance. To sweeten the story, there is both a wedding and baby at the end. Big smiles.
I think this is one of the best Elder Races stories.
Eastlake does a decent job of narration.
Recommend!

Dragons, Unicorns and Peanuts...

Thea Harrison has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat while Sophie Eastlake brings the characters to life. I fell back in love with the two who started it all. Dragos and Pia continue to grow and I found my self laughing at Pia's commentary. Harrison has showed that these two are not a one shot deal... While I enjoyed the other characters in this series being able to read about the Pia and Dragos made me what to read the series again from the start.. Can't wait to see what happens next!

VT. FAN

Would you listen to Lord's Fall again? Why?

GOOD STORY LINE AND I LOVE THE NARRATOR. LORDS FALL TAKES US BACK TO THE COUPLE IN FIRST BOOK (PIA AND DRAGOS).

Have you listened to any of Sophie Eastlake’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

YES. EASLAKE DOES A EXCELLENT JOB ON BOTH MALE AND FEMALE VOICES. A MUST IF YOU ASK ME FOR ANY AUDIOBOOK THAT USES JUST ON NARRATOR.

Revisiting, learning a lot more!

I was very happy to find out more about Pia and Dragos's relationship, and I absolutely loved this book. Sophie Eastlake also did great narrating, as usual.
