Publisher's summary

Brandon Sanderson is one of the most significant fantasists to enter the field in a good many years. His ambitious, multi-volume epics (Mistborn, The Stormlight Archive) and his stellar continuation of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series have earned both critical acclaim and a substantial popular following. In Legion, a distinctly contemporary novella filled with suspense, humor, and an endless flow of invention, Sanderson reveals a startling new facet of his singular narrative talent, read by Audie Award-winning narrator Oliver Wyman.

Stephen Leeds, AKA 'Legion,' is a man whose unique mental condition allows him to generate a multitude of personae: hallucinatory entities with a wide variety of personal characteristics and a vast array of highly specialized skills. As the story begins, Leeds and his 'aspects' are drawn into the search for the missing Balubal Razon, inventor of a camera whose astonishing properties could alter our understanding of human history and change the very structure of society. The action ranges from the familiar environs of America to the ancient, divided city of Jerusalem. Along the way, Sanderson touches on a formidable assortment of complex questions: the nature of time, the mysteries of the human mind, the potential uses of technology, and the volatile connection between politics and faith. Resonant, intelligent, and thoroughly absorbing, Legion is a provocative entertainment from a writer of great originality and seemingly limitless gifts.

I’d recommend it

I didn’t expect to like this but, it’s Brandon Sanderson. So, I shouldn’t really be surprised. I still am though. This was really good. It was interesting and intriguing. Sometimes the audio sample and the description just aren’t a good indicator. Sometimes you just have to trust the authors you love. - I said in the most generic and bland way possible. This is why I’m not an author. Basically if you are reading this, you are interested enough at this point that you will probably like it. I’m actually just going to read everything Brandon Sanderson’s written. Because at this point I’m almost done with with the list and I legitimately really enjoy everything he’s written that I’ve read. You should start with Mistborn. But, if that’s to big of a commitment start with the emperor’s soul. It’s fantastic! Mistborn is spectacular! The way of kings is admittedly massive. But totally worth it!

Barely a story. All setup with no payoff.

I got this on a recommendation and after finishing I can say your money and credits are better spent elsewhere. Great concept but all setup with no payoff. Just as the story gets moving it's over. I thought my download was corrupted and that I hadn't gotten all of it but no, that's where it ended. This is only the 2nd time I've gotten a book from Audible that I was disappointed in.

Enjoyable

I would of given this 5 stars across the board but it was a short story. I didn't want the story to end or the characters to stop coming.

Excellent, innovative short story

This is a great little story about an individual with multiple personalities that jointly interact to help him solve a particularly-interesting mystery. It is a great, imaginative premise! I enjoyed Brandon Sanderson's writing and the always-excellent narration by Oliver Wyman. Yes, this book was free, but it would be a worthy read in any case.

Good book, but too short.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I would have to say JC b/c he knows his combat weapons and tactics. And also he's kinda the comic relief of the bunch.

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why i gave this book a try. To me I think he always does a good job.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

One Camera... One mission... Multiple personae...

Any additional comments?

Even though the book was free I would have paid to listen to and interesting story like this. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good short story.

No doubt about it, Sanderson's brilliant

Which scene was your favorite?

The opening sequence where we get to know all the characters is amazing. The characters all have this crazy, normally-frightening relationship to each other based on a psychological condition (I won't say what it is in order not to spoil it), but even still the author makes us fall in love with each character. It's kind of...well...insane!

I wasn't certain at first, but this book left me wanting the rest of the story!
