Publisher's summary

Brandon Sanderson is one of the most significant fantasists to enter the field in a good many years. His ambitious, multi-volume epics (Mistborn, The Stormlight Archive) and his stellar continuation of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series have earned both critical acclaim and a substantial popular following. In Legion, a distinctly contemporary novella filled with suspense, humor, and an endless flow of invention, Sanderson reveals a startling new facet of his singular narrative talent, read by Audie Award-winning narrator Oliver Wyman.

Stephen Leeds, AKA 'Legion,' is a man whose unique mental condition allows him to generate a multitude of personae: hallucinatory entities with a wide variety of personal characteristics and a vast array of highly specialized skills. As the story begins, Leeds and his 'aspects' are drawn into the search for the missing Balubal Razon, inventor of a camera whose astonishing properties could alter our understanding of human history and change the very structure of society. The action ranges from the familiar environs of America to the ancient, divided city of Jerusalem. Along the way, Sanderson touches on a formidable assortment of complex questions: the nature of time, the mysteries of the human mind, the potential uses of technology, and the volatile connection between politics and faith. Resonant, intelligent, and thoroughly absorbing, Legion is a provocative entertainment from a writer of great originality and seemingly limitless gifts.

Fresh Idea

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the tone of the relationship between the protagonist and his entourage. I also thought the way skills were acquired as needed was one of freshest concepts I read in a long time. It was disappointing to have the story end so quickly. I want to read more stories about this legion.

VERY SHORT

I didn't get this for free as others apparently had done previously, but I did download the second book for free. I was disappointed in it's length. Seems like I stumbled in on a story in the middle of things with a past that I could not completely understand. Maybe more will be revealed in the sequel.

Fun story good narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audible book for a quick "read". intriguing concept, quick story. the male narrator did a good job of differentiating the many characters, real and imagined.

What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As I suggested earlier, the narrator Oliver Wyman did a good job at both separating the gender of the characters and also in expressing', with some degree of consistency, their personalities.

Any additional comments?

I might be somewhat prejudiced in my positive review because for me the price was so right..........FREE!

Short, but intriguing

Would you consider the audio edition of Legion to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print edition, but I prefer audio books in general. I think the voices ascribed by a good narrator bring a depth to the book that the print edition doesn't have.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Legion?

The description of how Legion's aspects manifest and how he understands them.

Which character – as performed by Oliver Wyman – was your favorite?

Tobias. Wyman really captured his slow, deep, soothing way of speech that Sanderson described.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Leeds is confronted by a new, but all too real possibility for the reason behind his aspects and is surprised by his difficulty in hearing it.

Cant wait for more!

Would you listen to Legion again? Why?

Yes, it had parts in it that deserve a second listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Legion?

Serving drinks to your hallucinations.....got to be a first.

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This one was well done.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The final moment when I realized it was done, and I have to wait for more !

Any additional comments?

A very unique angle for a crime fighter, I was reminded of Criminal Minds, mixed up with a bit of Dresden Files. One to look forward to more from.

I'm not crazy, but some of my reviews are...

What made the experience of listening to Legion the most enjoyable?

The witty writing made this short title amazing to listen to. Both the inner monologue and the repartee between the main characters delusional personalities.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I'm not crazy, but some of my delusions are.

Any additional comments?

The story was fast moving, fun, and put an interesting spin on the genius with mental issues type of story. I definitely want to see more of Sanderson's writing.
