A reluctant vampire hunter, stalking New York City as only a scorned bride can.
Elle Dupree has her life all figured out: first a wedding, then her PhD, then swank faculty parties where she'll serve wine and cheese and introduce people to her husband the lawyer.
But those plans disintegrate when she walks in on a vampire sucking the blood from her fiancé, Greg. Horrified, she screams and runs - not away from the vampire, but toward it, brandishing a wooden letter opener.
As she slams the improvised stake into the vampire's heart, a team of black-clad men bursts into the apartment. Turning to face them, Elle realizes Greg's body is gone - and her perfect life falls apart.

this audio book was very entertaining. It made my trips to and from work go by quickly. I was excited when I got stopped by a train is so that I could listen to more of the story. this story had action, intrigue, revenge, and left me wanting more.
great story line, awesome characters, and great description to details. can not wait for the next book in the series
Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything. - Plato
The story line was pretty good but there were several of my questions left unanswered by the end of this book.
Elle is a Grad student that sees her fiancé being killed by vampires. Except that he is not really gone. Greg, her fiancé, has turned into a vampire and is after her.
A group of vampire hunters help her go after a nest of vampires. There are a lot of action, suspense, and mystery. The only thing it was missing was a bit of romance throughout.
There is only a bit at the end. If you can call it that.
Perhaps some of my questions will be answered on the following books on this series. Overall a pretty solid story.
The narrator did an excellent job.

Love listening to audiobooks, and being swept away by a great story and narrator. It's my therapy, and I need it daily!
I truly loved this story and enjoyed every minute! The plot was great, and the action was really intense at times, I could not stop listening to the story and actually listened the whole story in one siting.....IT WAS THAT GOOD! I highly recommend this story and do not think anyone would be disappointed.
It reminded of more mature adult "Buffy," with other great characters. After Elle's fiancé is turned into a vampire, her life is forever altered. She meets Nick and his team who teach her to hunt, fight and kill vampires who pray on humans and get them addicted to their bite. She joins there team and they do several raids that are really intense. Throughout the story, bad things do happened to good people and there are many different emotions throughout the story. From beginning to end this was an awesome story.
This was my first book by Margo Bond Collins, it won't be my last, and I really hope there will be a book two.
This is my first story I've listened to narrated by Laural Schroeder and I really enjoyed her performance. I'm already looking into other books narrated by her.

This vampire story almost reads like a legal thriller. It's full of intrigue as the heroine discovers not only vampires but how they are affecting her life. It's not dark or gory, but an interesting mix of light-heartedness and suspense.
I really enjoyed Laurel Schroeder's narration and thought she fit the characters perfectly.

I loved the snarky attitude of the heroine and the way she refused to back down ever. Instead of being shocked or frozen she was all about action :)
It was really different from most vampire books and that made it seem almost realistic! It was an engrossing story that sucks you in and makes you think maybe Vampires could exist :)
I LOVED the way Laurel Schroeder performed all the characters but I have to say Elle was my favorite by far! She was indomitable and unique and refused to take anything from anyone. I could hear the determination in her voice... Not to be misled or marginalized... To learn to true reality of her world and face what needed to be faced. It was inspiring and kept me rooting for her until the end! I hope she continues on with this series as I can't imagine anyone else voicing these characters near as well!
Yes! I was always sad when I had to take a break... But sleeping and eating are not optional! It kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I can't wait to listen to the next one! This was an amazing listen :)
This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to Crazy, Stupid, Undead!
Elle has her whole life planned out ... And it is going to be amazing! She is finishing her PHd and getting married to an amazing man who is already a lawyer at a really good firm. Nothing could possibly derail her life... Until the night she comes home to find a *gasp* Vampire?! Eating her fiance Greg!!! She just gets so angry the only thing she can think is KILL... So she grabs her team letter opener and stabs him right through the heart. How are Vampires real?! Why would one want to eat her fiance? How did he even get mixed up in all of this? Before she really has time to process anything really some guys show up and marvel at the fact she has killed the Vampire. Will her life ever be the same? Why are the guys there? How did they know about the Vampire? Where did Greg's body to? He was dead right? Can she get to the bottom of this Vampire thing? Or should she pretend they don't exist like a normal person?
***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy romantic urban paranormal suspense thrillers with a lot of snark and mystery as well as a bit of intrigue and horror to spice up the action& adventure of this fun thrilling romp :)
One minute you're planning a wedding, living a normal life. The next minute you find out vampires are real, have to kill one, and realize your fiance is now undead as well. I listened to the audiobook version, and it was so much fun! Our main character ended up a bad ass vampire hunter. The best scene in the book was when she busted into the door covered in blood, and holding a vampire head! I really liked that although she was slashing vampire heads and such, that her emotions felt real. When she deals with her ex-boyfriend throughout the story, she still has normal feelings about him. The ending was absolutely perfect. I had that satisfied feeling, but just enough information was given to make me want the next book right now! I really enjoyed this audiobook, and I hope the next one is released soon!

Because tales should be told.
Ex from Hell.
I've read a lot of vampire books, but this one is unique. It has a new twist. It is like a dark version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
No, but I will in the future. She gave a good performance. I particularly enjoyed the Brooklyn accent she gave John.
This is a well-written book. There are several emotionally evocative scenes. The irony of Elle fighting with her ex-vampire boyfriend on the phone is rich. When Elle is bitten by Diedre and Greg, when Elle finds Malcom hanging from the ceiling, and the final fight scene are all very moving.

Yes. I like vampire stories and this book has alot of new ideas. The author is not just copying the typical contemporary vampire stories. I enjoyed this book and will definately listen to it again in the car. The flash back was done well. I like the way this was written in the first person. It is hard to write in first person without it sounding like a diary or journal. This has a flow. I hope this does become a series - at least a second book. I think this main character will grow into a VERY interesting killer. I also think that Nick will be part of a bigger plan.
Okay...no spoilers. My absolute favorite part is the Head Swinging. I like it when she is caught in the office. I did not expect him to be there. The blood sucking experience being so erotic was a twist that I was not expecting at all.Malcolm at the end of the story was......very steamy. I wasn't expecting this either and it was Hot.The shop boys were fun. I like the way they show up right away in her apartment. It kind of gives the shop boys a Men In Black kind of feel. I kept thinking that she and Malcolm would become vampires, and I was pleased with the outcome.
No, I have never listened to Laurel Schroeder. I like her voice. It is not too sweet, not too sappy; she has a cute sassy way of portraying the characters. Her New Orleans accent is not obnoxious - it is just right. Being from the South, I really hate people butchering a Southern Accent.
Her voice is not irritating. I think I will look for some more of her readings. I gave her a 4 star rating. She was better than average - very good but not excellent. I only leave 5 stars for the OMG that is fantastic reviews.
The writing was done so well that I could actually smell the gore. I liked the head swinging. The vision of her using a small pocket knife then swinging the head. It was so vivid. Then the fits of laughter the Shop boys started. It was a great scene.
I rated the story as a 4 star. I feel like the author is holding back, or maybe her editor is holding back. I think that this book has a lot of potential to become a great series. It felt to me like there was so much the author wanted to include but did not want to write a manual...or maybe the editor wanted to keep the pages limited. This is a story just waiting to bust loose. I expect to leave 5 stars on the sequel.
Many times, a first book in a series may not be strong or outstanding....and then it developes into something really great. This is a good stand alone book, but as the characters might develop into more books....this will be a great story.

Legally Undead is a standalone paranormal/horror novel.
Elle has everything planned with her life. She's going to graduate and get married to her lawyer fiancé Greg. Everything was perfect until she walks in on a horror scene.
excellent story with perfect narration makes for easy listening. highly recommended. vampire with a twist.
"Not as good as I hoped."
I liked the idea of the story but the execution was lacking in places. The heroine's reaction to the death of her fiance is unrealistic. There seems to be little regret about what has happened, just a couple of off the cuff paragraphs. I'm not sure if it is back story that is missing but I feel the progress of the story is disjointed. The author seems to be intent on setting the scene for the series so the story suffers. I definitely won't buy the next in the series but I might borrow it from the library to see if the quality of the writing has improved.
