Publisher's summary

The Wheel of Time is now an original series on Prime Video, starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

In Knife of Dreams, the eleventh novel in Robert Jordan’s #1 New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Tarmon Gai'don, the Last Battle, is upon Rand al'Thor—and now the Dragon Reborn must confront the Dark One as humanity's only hope.

The dead are walking, men die impossible deaths, and it seems as though reality itself has become unstable…

Abandoning Rand’s war against the Dark One, Perrin Aybara has made his own truce with the Seanchan in his obsessive quest to save his wife Faile from the Shaido and destroy their mutual enemies. To achieve victory, Perrin must render the Shaido Wise One channelers in Malden powerless. But even as he puts his desperate plan into action, Masema Dagar, the Prophet of the Dragon, moves against him.

Traveling with circus performers through Seanchan-controlled Altara, Mat Cauthon attempts to court Tuon, the Daughter of the Nine Moons, to complete their fateful prophesized marriage. Despite being surrounded by Seanchan seeking to kill her, Mat’s intended leads him on a merry chase while he wages guerrilla warfare to protect her.

Knowing he cannot defeat the Dark One while at war with the Seanchan, Rand brokers for a truce with the Daughter of the Nine Moons. Unaware of Tuon’s actual location, the Dragon Reborn walks into a trap set by the Forsaken Semirhage, who possesses knowledge about his powers that will either shatter or steel his resolve in the forthcoming conflict.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant #1 New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

Critic reviews

"Explodes with motion, as multiple plot lines either conclude or advance, and the march to Tarmon Gai'don, the climactic last battle between the Dragon Reborn and the Dark One, begins in earnest." (Publishers Weekly)

"The battle scenes have the breathless urgency of firsthand experience, and the...evil laced into the forces of good, the dangers latent in any promised salvation, the sense of the unavoidable onslaught of unpredictable events bear the marks of American national experience during the last three decades." (The New York Times)

"Jordan has a powerful vision of good and evil, but what strikes me as most pleasurable...is all the fascinating people moving through a rich and interesting world." (Orson Scott Card)

Better, but only because of Mat Cauthon

The past 3 books have mostly been awful, if judged on their own and not as a whole with the entire series.

This one is definitely better, but only because of the Mat Cauthon story line. I would have thought I would enjoy Perrin's as well, but it is attached to yet another situation where a bunch of female characters are being held against their will. And, of course, as soon as she is rescued, Jordan immediately writes another set of his female characters to walk with bravado into another obvious situation for things to not go as planned and one of them gets taken against their will.

I agree with many of the other reviews. Jordan is as verbose as ever, but everything reads rushed and sloppy. I can't help but feel that there was too much time spent on things that just don't have enough literary value to the story.

It's worth it just for the Mat Cauthon parts, though. Mat has consistently been the most interesting and consistently quality reading character out of all of the later books. Perhaps making up for the fact that he spent so much of the earlier books annoyingly under the influence of or chasing the dagger from Shadar Logoth.

Getting better...

Well I must say it is indeed getting a little better with this series. The last two editions in this series have been tragic disappointments with one pointless side plot after another. At least with this latest edition of the Wheel of Time, there seems to be a progression of the main story lines as well as some action that was sorely lacking in the last few books. I hope that the next few editions continue on this (hopefully) upward progression back to the original plot lines.

Bad quality

I love this series. However this recording is pretty much the worst quality I have ever heard. There are many glitches where the recording skips ahead and you entire sections of conversation. Also, the last 8 hours of the recording is the repeat of the first 8 hours of the book.

I enjoyed the book, but it skipped a lot.

I didn't know that books on Audible could skip. It sounded ripped from a scratched CD.

Im not to sure anyone can take the audible rating system seriously with junk like this... something to think about people..

Written be a child

Book filled with jealous, whiny people. If you want to read about immature bafoons this is the story for you. The writer puts things on page that a 15 year old could write.

Hateable groups and characters. Most are obnoxious. The way he makes his Aes Sediah to act is a true sign of a clueless writer. The entire white tower could and should burn, I'd feel, no great loss.

His characters, especially the old woman windbag Cadsuanne for the most part are very annoying to listen to. The three fake Aes Sediah are a joke. Though I don't like the White Tower, I would have to agree that Elaine, Nayneve and Egwain are no full Aes Sediah. But this just adds to the bickers and whiny immature women in the story. The men aren't as bad. Matt has the only entertaining part though. Rand Al-Thor has become a pansy and is dimwitted. He should have broke Cadsuannes neck long ago. Perrin is ok but he and his group are just dense. Min is a good character. See not all suck.

Points of stupidity. When 3 of these supposed bad ass Aes Sediah are standing in a room. A woman retrieved 3 collars and actually gets them on them. How was that possible haha Such amateur writing.

And the jealousy of these people is immense! At one point the second white tower discusses who mostly comes to her office with complaints. She says, mothers who have daughters who can channel more than they, and aunts with nieces who can. And they want it fixed. What an idiot haha Jealous of your family. Amateur writing.

Will be interesting to see how Brandon Sanderson finishes these stories. He actually knows how to write a story. Can he keep these poorly written characters as immature, jealous and dimwitted?

Skips in playback

I love this book, but the playback had too many errors that caused skips. If you already have read it, that is fine, but if not, you miss important sections.

the best of the best

You are reading the best epic fantasy series there is. period. It may take a while to get into it but you will. There are 2600 plus characters but don't get scared teenagers read this every day. You will know these peoples as "friends" and "enemies" and like your own family. Read by the dynamic duo of recitation kate reading and michael kramer... they pull it all together .. I switch genres just to listen to them... It [the series] is really one huge wonderful story broken into 14 too short books that nobody wants to see ended..I can not express how good these books are. I have started 16 different friends reading TWoT and they are all addicted. You think that maybe the books are enchanted some how???
If fantasy is your genre you have arrived....... paul t.
