When a 15-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people - kids, grandparents, soccer moms - all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will be more.…

But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And Anita is one of them.…

Stop with the sound effects

Love the story, adore Kimberly Alexis (best voice ever for this series) but HATE the really loud gunshots and music. It’s not cool or dramatic, it’s annoying and cheesy. Stoooop please

A 6 out of 10

Not get best book. I love Anita and the boys, but the sex scenes are getting so long it's like sitting through an entire porn movie. I end up jumping ahead, sometimes as much as two chapters, to get back to the story. Balance, Mrs Hamilton, balance please!

error in storyline

I love the series however this book had a discrepancy and the storyline I need to mentions Nikki is lying to call when she returns back from work when Nikki is actually the bride however I still love this series but I had to drop a star for that.

loved it

This series is amazing! This book may not have all sex you WANT, but it does have some serious character development. Not all the books need to be pure erotica. I love these books because of the characters. LKH has a unique look at telling the story of lovers, work life, and even the annoying work friend that just cant let it go when they dont get their own way. Thank you Kimberly Alexis for the narration.

Love this series

Love the book. Kimberly Alexis usually does an amazing job but please please don't do Micah with an Irish accent again. That was just so wrong

Great!

I really enjoy seeing how Anita is growing and changing. Also, we have some Zebrowski! Thank goodness Dolph is growing up. Sigh, why does the narrator make Micah sound Irish in this book when for the past 10 books… he’s been very American? It’s very odd. Also, why did Stephen’s girlfriend’s name change from Vivian to Vanessa? That’s got to be an error. I enjoyed the police work :-).

Disappointed with Kimberly Alexis in this one.

Where does Kiss the Dead rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed this one almost as much as the rest. I don't dwell on plot much. I just sit back and take in the characters and story. This story line had all my favorites.

Have you listened to any of Kimberly Alexis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

In this series I have always preferred Kimberly Alexis over Cynthia Holloway. She's always been appropriately dramatic, sarcastic, etc. She has great timing and will always be Anita Blake to me.
However, in this book, I was so disappointed. She was very consistent in all the other books. The voices always matched the characters thru the entire series. When she was speaking as a certain character I knew who it was by the accent and tone of voice used. I always assumed that she went back to the other books for reference and refresher, but she fell short badly in this one.
One of the main characters, Micah, is a Midwestern American born and raised. She has used his voice in previous books (I'm fairly sure) so when I heard her version of him in this book I was dumbfounded. He had a middle American accent-or lack of one in previous books. In this book he had an IRISH style accent! I had a hard time listening to the parts of the book that Micah was present. It almost ruined the story for me. I hope that this issue is brought to her attention before the next book because she needs a serious adjustment when it comes to her memory of Micah.
