Stile had problems on two different worlds. On Proton he was threatened with murder, and on Phaze, an alternate world ruled by magic, he had to master magic, fight a dragon, win the friendship of a lady unicorn, locate his enemy among the paranoid Adepts and return out of Phaze to win the Great Games on Proton. After that, he was ready to face the real problems!

I have always liked Piers Anthony. As a young teen, I read all the Adept Series and when I am old, I am still enjoying the skill and fun of his books. Old or young you will like them, if you like SciFi and just to relax.
The flow and action is almost constant, and unable to stop myself from listening to the entire book in a 24 hour period, the story is well written.
The mix of science and fantasy, honor, greed, heroes and villains that at times are hard to tell which is which, to be revealed at perfect moments. There are times that I could not help but laugh.
The main character of course Stile, and then it is a close call between Hulk and Sheen, there others that are great as well, however these are the top characters for me.
I did basically listen to the whole book in one sitting.
There are better readers for these audible books, however he did a better job then one I am listening to now for the First Book of Swords, this guy is giving me a headache.
I write reviews to help readers, not to win votes. My reviews are my honest opinion whether popular or not. I hope they help you. ;)
On it's own merits I would not recommend this book. However, it provides closure to the first two books which are good. So, by now you have already read the other two books and are enough invested you kind of have to read this one by default.
No. I still like Piers Anthony. When he is on his game he is a great author and hard to beat (read bio of a space tyrant series to see). Most people don't give him the credit he deserves. The problem is he is self-admitted money whore who will churn out substandard books as long as demand exists (see most of your later xanth books).
Yes, he does a good job as always.
Not really, the author puts enough questionable, icky sexual content in his books that it probably just wouldn't work. The first novel would probably make a great movie with some obvious revisions (everyone except the rich are naked all the time on the techno world).
Not a good book but at least it provides proper closure to the first two books.
yes. the narration was wonderful, the story flowed and pleasant to the ear
stile and sheen
i listen to the audio books at work so i usually finish in one day
