Critic reviews

"An exceptionally well-organize debut, with thoughtful ideas, a controlled plot, and characters-particularly the young protagonist-portrayed with insight and compassion." ( Kirkus)
"Gould's warm, delightful, and compulsively readable novel dispalys assured storytelling skill." ( Publishers Weekly)

fantastic story!

I listen while I work and usually it's no problem to work away the day without even thinking about it but with this book I found myself so focused in on the store I'd forgotten what I was even doing! I can't wait to here more!

One of my favorites!

Just finished listening for a third time. Wish it was made into a movie, it's so good.

plesenty surprised

so, it is good to know just how much they "adapted" the book for the movie. Good fun, and the emotional side was a bit heavy handed bit it gave good background.

will check out the next book in the series.

A favorite read, now a favorite listen

I’ve read Jumper many times, so I added it to my Audible collection. I immediately began listening and couldn’t stop. I was surprised to find that the narrator brought me a new understanding of the main character and his efforts to handle his challenges alone.

Far fetched story that went a bit too far

About halfway through the story started going too far. Up to that point it was believable reasonable for an 18 year old who could teleport.

Spoiler alert!!

In no way am I going to believe that a teenage book nerd is going to take out terrorists. The described combat that he engaged in was ridiculous. Outwitting federal agents was a stretch as well.

Much better than the movie

I really enjoyed it, very engrossing, and had me from the start. I will be looking for more books like this.

A Light Romp raising some moral questions along the way.

I enjoy the genre, but was wondering if there are other jumpers and how they would meet? The complexities of theft, abuse, terrorism were met with softer and less sofisticated answers than I would have liked. Love story was okay, too neat and predictable. Like in the title, a nice romp.

MUCH better than the movie, adult themes

The cover leads you to believe it's a schmaltzy young adult novel, it really needs a redesign to convey what a great story lies within. I never would have used my credit on this except for some reviews from other folks saying how really well done this audiobook is - I'm glad I took a chance on it. I enjoyed the movie and was happy to find the book is much better, with more philosophical questions and deeper relationships, and more reality portrayed. The narrator is excellent and fills Davy's role perfectly for me.

I'm not a heavy sci fi person, but I do enjoy sci fi movies, and I enjoyed this book enough to download what I believe is the second book in the series, Reflex.

Good stuff!

A nice descent into fantasy...

(Disclaimer: If you saw the movie, then you still know practically nothing about this book. They do not share the same plot, or really even the characters. "Griffin's Story" is actually set in the MOVIE universe, not this one.)

What would you do if you could teleport?

This wasn't high-sci-fi or high-fantasy. The world is more or less our world, except for this one kid who can teleport. He's got real problems with his abusive dad, his girlfriend, the cop downstairs who beats his wife.... oh, yeah, and the NSA.

Definitely worth reading. Will inspire a lot of fantasies and daydreams.
