A classic I had never heard
This isn't my favorite "lost regiment " style book but it is very good. sometimes the plot seems to move to slow then too fast. Really enjoyed this and recommend it.

Would make a great TV series
Janissaries is a quick listen and a very intriguing concept for a story. I like the narration. I’m not sure why a major studio like Netflix or Apple or Amazon does not turn this into a streaming series. It would be fantastic. If you have never read anything by The author, listen to or read this book immediately and look up the great Jerry Pournelle’s bio on Wikipedia. Audible please bring the fourth novel in the series “Mamelukes” to audiobook as soon as possible.

Midevial battles in a SiFi world.
I almost gave up on the beginning of this story it seemed so strait forward. I am happy that I continued because there are so many mysteries and cultures clashing to bring the novel alive. Much of the wonder of "what if" are SiFi conflicts taking place in the story with weapons that contain swords & armor; guns & gunpowder; to advanced alien ones.

Solid stuff, worth the time
It took a couple of chapters to get used to the narration and storyline, but glad I let it work out . Moving right to the next book in the series. Not at all a Sci fi shoot ‘em up. Solid but not tedious world build.
