Publisher's summary

Enter the woods...if you dare.

For centuries, the woods have been a pivotal part of the wonder and danger of fairy tales, for once you enter anything can happen. Elves, druids, fairies - who knows what you will find once you dare step into the forest?

And now, New York Times best-selling author Kim Harrison ventures into these mysterious, hidden lands of magic and mystery in her first short-story collection. Into the Woods brings together an enchanting mix of brand-new, never-before-published stories and tales from Harrison's beloved, best-selling Hollows series.

The tales here include an original Hollows novella, "Million-Dollar Baby", about Trent Kalamack's secret elven quest in Pale Demon; two original short stories, "Pet Shop Boys" and "Temson Woods," that explore just what happens when humanity and the supernatural collide; and two novelettes, "Spider Silk" and "Grace," set in new worlds of imagination and adventure. Into the Woods also contains all of the previously published Hollows short stories - together in one volume for the very first time.

Step into the woods and discover the magic for yourself.

Just couldn't get into to it.

I have read all the Hollows series, they are one of my favorite series. But I just couldn't get into this book. I will look forward to the next book to come out.

Good writer, depressing stories

I really didn’t care for this, and had to force myself to finish. Although she’s a good writer, the stories are dark and the endings are almost always unhappy. I don’t get the fascination with vampires. There’s also a bit of mommy porn. It just didn’t make for a book I found enjoyable.

Back ground writing

Would you listen to Into the Woods again? Why?

It was really interesting to read what all Kim puts into a story before it goes to print. I would listen again just to absorb the characters and the influence on other works.

This helped with my Rachel Morgan fix.

Would you listen to Into the Woods again? Why?

Yes. There are several short stories in this collection, and each one takes you deeper into various characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Into the Woods?

I really enjoyed finding out how Trent and Janx snatched Lucy. It was a wonderful insight into Trent's character. I also loved Janx teaching Jamoke how to be a runner. His thoughts about his failings with Jax and his interactions with Madalina brought tears to my eyes.

What does Marguerite Gavin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Marguerite Gavin does a wonderful job with the narration. Most of the characters have very distinct voices, and she adds just enough wit and sarcasm to bring the characters to life.

I consider audiobooks better than print anyways so yes!

What does Marguerite Gavin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Marguerites cadence and manner of which she reads this entire series is so unique. She really brings a different life to each character she portrays.

some of these short stories really good

Some of these short stories help fill in the blanks on Rachel and Jenks in Kim Harrison's Hollows series. Other stories are totally unrelated, with some being very good and others harder to get into. I bought it for the Hollows stories and it is well worth those.

A Must Have! 5 Stars!! Kudos Writer & Narrator!

What did you love best about Into the Woods?

This book has a little bit about all of our familiar characters Ivy,Rachel,Trent,Jenx, Al,and some new ones which normally are not so good stories, but Ms Harrison has out done herself here. I enjoyed all of her stories, and I can't say that about any other anthology I have ever listened to.

What did you like best about this story?

This is a book for any fan of the Hollows, and for those that do not know them this book will entice them to! I was thoroughly entertained for 20 hours and 6 minutes with Marguerite Gavin as the narrator, she is a terrific narrator! This book will help quench your thirst before the next Rachel Morgan Book comes out ; "EVER AFTER". JANUARY 22, 2013.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved all of the stories, and it helped fill in some of the holes in the other Rachel Morgan books. But I have to say the new stories were entertaining, fresh, and well written, the one with Penn, Meg, and her mother and grand mother really stand out for me. I would like hear more about what happens there.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! It was very hard to put down, and get my other commitments met!!
