Publisher's summary

Hostage recovery specialist Eli Chance has a secret. He was born a shifter. A freak of nature. While on a mission, Eli's men and their mercenary guide are exposed to a powerful chemical agent, and suddenly his secret has become easier to hide. Now he's not the only one with the gift. But for his men, this "gift" is becoming more and more of a curse. Tyana Berezovsky's brother Damiano was the guide for Eli's team and was the worst affected by the chemical. As he grows increasingly unstable, Tyana fears she's going to lose him to the beast he is becoming. Tyana will do whatever it takes to help him, even if it means using her body to go after the one man she thinks holds all the blame - and possibly the cure: Eli Chance.

A GOOD START & IT PACKS A LOT INTO THE LISTEN

Well what's not to like - a hot sexy Alpha shapeshifting hero, an exciting plot that's got mystery, twists, secrets, lots of sex, suspense, snappy dialogue and some interesting likeable secondary characters including more hot Mercenaries and some evil villains.

It's not your usual 'shapeshifter' romance as this one is based on chemically induced unwanted shifting and the need to find a cure. As the H/H get 'better acquainted', we find out that they bring with them a lot of emotional baggage which makes them two cynical, hard edged wounded loners but there's so much sexual chemistry and attraction that they just can't keep their hands to themselves. Slowly, together they each bring out the best in each other and become much more likeable people.

There's 'race against time' action and plenty of combat as their joint enemies pile up but my only criticism would be that I wish there was a bit more romance but hey ho that's just me being picky.

Worth a credit? It would have been with all the paranormal action but as it's under $10 I just bought it and saved my credit for a more expensive listen.

Too much erection, not enough detection!

I tried this because I saw the second book in the mystery section. I haven't completed the book and I'm not sure I will because a sex scene every twenty minutes just isn't doing it for me. If sex fits into a story line I'm cool with it. This....well...if the story grabbed me I'd trudge through the constant 'throbbing' but it doesn't.

Excellent Start To The Series

With her brother's life on the line Tyana Berezovsky is not afraid to use everything in her power, including her body, to get information from Eli Chance, the man she feels is the cause of her brother's problems. Eli was the lead on the team that left her brother to die after he was chemically altered in an attack that resulted in him changing into a shapeshifter. Refusing to allow her brother to succumb to the beast that is making him unstable and a threat to their family of mercenaries Tyana continually goes against her "family's" rules. Meeting with Eli and trying to find anything that will help. The meetings do more than anger her family; they create a bond between Eli and Tyana as the two have trouble keeping their hands off each other. Time is running out for Tyana and Eli as there are other forces at work, someone interested in the attack that turned men into creatures and willing to kill for the knowledge it represents.

Listening to Into the Mist is like hitting a reader's jackpot. A story centered on a family of mercenaries and their attempts to save one of their own, this book turned into an orgy of action from one page to the next. With an intense plot, heavy with emotional upheaval Tyana and Eli's dance of love and romance took me on one high after another. Tyana has to be on my list of top 10 heroines of all time, her ability to kick-butt and her willingness to risk body and limbs for those she loved was touching to say the least. I was impressed with how Maya Banks was able to keep Tyana strong without taking away from the strength of Eli or making him any less of a force to be reckoned with. This entire story is filled with interesting characters, people whose stories need to be told and who I can only wait anxiously as I hope this is only the beginning of a what looks to be an exciting series.

Nia Partington did an excellent job with the delivery of the story(less)

Good

I'll be interested in the next book. Lot's of action in and out of bed. Plenty of tortured hot guys that need answers. Very promising series start. Credit worthy book.

Disappointment

I am only a few chapters in and I just cannot get into this book. It does not really have a story line that I can figure out. So far I know Eli can change to mist and something is wrong with Tyana’s brother. It is just sex and more sex. Don’t get me wrong I like that in a book but you need to have something to go with it to make the story interesting. I don't get the connection and am not sure if I am going to finish this book. I am shocked because I love Maya Banks and thought that this would be another hit. I am disappointed. I also don't like the narrator. She is slow when speaking in character. It is also difficult to distinguish the difference between characters. I just am not enjoying this. Sometimes I think it will get better but in my mind I am thinking how many more hours am I going to waste listening. My vacation is short:)

Just so-so

Sometimes a book is just really mediocre, and Into the Mist is an example of that. I wanted it to be better--since I'm definitely a Maya Banks fan, but, what started out as funny, sexy, and semi-interesting just went into snoozeville as it continued. There are so many other fantastic books worthy of my 'ear time' :-) sadly this wasn't one. Also, I was more distracted than impressed with the narrator's attempt at an accent for some of the characters--I think it was supposed to be some European/Russian/Polish mix--it wasn't working for me.

I listened because its rather short, but, I really couldn't wait until it was over. That's bad. I don't want to WANT books to end. Long review short, it has some of the makings of a good series but there are better stories out there about shifters looking for answers about their new genetic makeup and getting vengeance against those that have wronged them. If you're looking for that type of story, then check out The Alpha Pack series, it's10 times better and well worth your time and/or credit.

Spine tingling Yumminess Fully Loaded with Heat !!

Any additional comments?

Eli can't quite figure what the sexy little mercenary is up to when she targets him in a Singapore nightclub but he can't wait to find out. From the fierce muscle tone in her arms to the combat boots on her feet everything about Tyana Berezovsky demands his attention. Tyana is hoping Eli has the means to find a cure for her unstable shifter brother. This story has it all from kick Ass action, vulnerability, love and like all great Maya Banks books some Super Steamy Spine tingling SEX scenes. Narration was perfect and Nia Partington voice suited the story beautifully. I have all ready down loaded book 2 in this very enticing series :)

Into the Mist Falcon Mercenary Group, Book 1

When a mission turns deadly things are not what these men on a mission did not count on. They were bombarded with chemicals that turned them into beings no longer human with powers that they have no control of. Two set of teams must come together to get the missing information to survive. Only thing is one man was not exactly human to begin with. Eli Chance has a secret. He was born a shifter. A freak of nature. He is an elemental. Two others turned to cats. They are out for answers. They thought they had lost a man. But his sister is out for revenge on them for leaving him behind. She also wants answers. He wants her. Can the two teams work together and find out what is going on? This is the first book. Then narration was good that I want to listen to the next book.

Interesting shifter romance

Exposure to a substance which genetically modified them, soldiers struggle to control their shifting. What if they can find a cure or some way to stabilize the shifts? Ty’s brother was one of those affected and she will do anything to help him, even seduce the enemy.
Maya Banks has created interesting characters, although I felt that they could have been stronger.
I found Nia Partington’s narration odd, almost monotonous but not quite. Regrettably she switched between giving voices and accents to the characters and then not. I would rather have no differences than sometimes having them and sometimes not.
Overall, an enjoyable story.

I loved it!

I forgot how much I love Maya Banks, this is a great story. The narrator is really good with the voice variations, I was never confused with which character was speaking.
