Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be a way to end the devastation in the Middle East, but instead a darkness is unleashed unlike anything the world has ever seen before.

Ike Glass is well versed in chaos, but even he is unprepared for what the world will become after the outbreak. Ace Cullen has been loyal to his country ever since he was brought to the states as a young boy, but it's difficult to stand by a country that can't even take responsibility for their own actions. Phoenix Blue just wants a night of mindless sex...is that too much to ask? Always a black sheep, she shocks everyone as she finds the strength inside herself to protect the ones she cares about, and fight to see another day. They were strangers when the virus took over, but tragedy will bring them together in ways they never thought possible as they descend into the darkness.

I wish I could choose a different narrator

She's so monotone and unfeeling it ruined the book. My 7yo reads with more feeling

What happens next?

The overall story is interesting and book 2 is going on my 'to read' list, but I thought more information could have been useful at times. There are lots of unanswered questions for me and while I'm sure more will be revealed in future books, I feel like this book could have been a five star book if there weren't so many holes.

The story is well planned, with interesting and likeable characters, I'm looking forward to reading book two.

Nice delivery and good character voices, I enjoyed listening to the narration.

I received this book free from the narrator/publisher/author in exchange for an honest review.

Zombie military apocalypse!

I loved this story and can't wait to get the second one! the narration was a little difficult because the main character sounded a bit like a robot but somehow it grows on you and the story more than makes up for it!

Zombie Apoc Story with a Little Romance

Kira Adams has created a fun little world where the US government in hopes of settling that nasty little middle east problem makes a bug in the lab that gets us the Zombie Apocalypse. It speeds around the world pretty fast. The main character is Phoenix Blue. I young woman with a streak of rebellion in her, her younger sister Rian we met along the way. Ike, Cullen, Jerrika, Degenerates, and the remains of the Government. It is found out that Phoenix is immune to the bite of Zombies. There is plenty of betrayals, fighting, and mistrust along with Cliffhanger ending as this is the first book in the series. I enjoyed it. The story was fun and the drama between the characters made for interesting times between zombies attacks.

This is the first performance I have heard from Ms. Faiella but I greatly enjoyed her work on this project. She does a great job with a diverse cast of characters.

Good start to a series

3.5 stars
Good start to series. I really enjoyed this story. It pulled me and held my complete attention from start to finish. I was so into the story before I knew it over 4 hours had flown by and it was over. My only complaint.... I wish it had been longer. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

It does end in a cliffhanger so be prepared.

While there is really nothing unusual or new about this story that's not a bad thing. It's a good solid story that is interesting, entertaining and has a really good cast of likable characters. There is enough going on to keep the story moving, building the suspense with plenty of surprises and twists. Being a zombie survival story of coarse there is plenty of action as well.

Note: the main character Phoenix was molested as a child. While it does not go into details if this is a trigger for some they may want to skip this story. Not quite sure we needed the extra about the Uncle. I understand it lent towards developing her trust issues but I could have done without it.

Lori Faiella did a great job with the narration. Pleasant voice that is easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Good character voices. Both male and female. Just a slight change in tone is enough to distinguish between male and female characters. She was able to bring the characters, their emotions and the story to life. Hopefully she will narrating the rest of the series. Very enjoyable.

Fair Zombie Book

This may not be the most exciting listen of apocalyptic zombie novel for adults but feel it would really be liked for teens and younger adults. Does have fairly good character development with Cullen, Phoenix and few others with fast paced action and typical zombies. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you.
