"Interesting Times, Good Times"
There are just too many things I love about this story. It makes me laugh and smile and cry and want to kill the bad guys. It also shows how much like warfare teaching really is. The organised and polite rebellion is delightfully sweet and completely ridiculous. And just when things couldn?t get any worse here comes the world?s worst wizard and a hoard of (silver) barbarians. Not to mention there?s always the butterfly?.
"Another excellent Pratchett"
If any of you are at all familiar with Pratchett's work you will know of the wizard Rincewind, if not, get The colour of Magic and become so. This I think is possibly one of Pratchett's best involving the most useless and cowardly wizard in all of literary history, while The last Continent may be funnier, Interesting Times is more thought provoking, while still remaining incredibly amusing as always.
"Great story shame about the sound quality"
The sound quality is patchy (and not just the decision to put loads of reverb on the stuff in asterisks). But an excellent book well performed.
If you're a terry Pratchett fan then this is a welcome addition to your audio book collection. Interesting Times is a classic Disckworld novel, with the return of rincewind the Wizzard, Twoflower, Cohen and The Luggage. That said, it doesn't quite match up to the previous Rincewind books and feels unusually by the numbers for a Pratchett novel, although an average Pratchett is still a very worthy listen indeed.
Nigel Planer does his usual excellent job as Narrator, with a vocal style that matches the source material perfectly and draws you into the story beautifully.
"Great as usual the underlying narrative paradies"
truth...reality...people so very well. Every book takes a swipe at life...The universe and everything. look out popular culture...institutions...politics and life in general
"Pratchett at his best."
one of the earlier Disneyworld and all the better for it. I got strange looks while waiting in a hospital fir my mum as I was chuckling to myself.
"Great story, ruined in some places by noises"
It is a great story, Nigel Planer isn't great at reading, but he's not as bad as some of his other discworld books
Begrudgingly, he's definately not as good as the other chap, but it's the only way to listen to whole discword series
It would be worth getting Stephen Briggs to read all of the Planer ones, i'm probably not on my own for thinking that!
Just another one of TP's brilliant books. Great story, good narration, not too sure about the little twinkling bells at the end of each chapter though!!
