A fun book

Connie Willis is always entertaining. Inside Job along with Bellwether are two of my very favorites.

An engaging story with a humorous plot twist

If you've never read any of Connie Willis' short stories (as opposed to her excellent novels) you owe it to yourself to give "Inside Job" a listen. This story is easily among her best (so far) and the reading by Dennis Boutsikaris is excellent.

Not what I expected but entertaining

After having read mostly Connie Willis "Timetravel" novels before, the plot was a bit one-dimensional and the character of Kildy remained unbelievable to me.
This said, I enjoyed the reading a lot after I adjusted my (too) high expectations for this much shorter novella. Dennis Boutsikaris did a good job differentiating the characters and the dialog between Rob and Kildy sparked and drove the story. One of the highlights for me are always the quotes at the beginning of each chapter.

Willis Has a Gift for the Unusual

Connie Willis has a gift for the unusual situation. In this great novella she plays with the idea of a spiritualist who is channeling the ultimate debunker, H. L. Mencken. The result is a fastmoving, very fun, romp through the world of spiritualists and their critics. A quick and totally enjoyable read.

Well performed, funny and insightful story

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoyed the story. As a skeptic who desperately wants to be believe in the spirit world is spoke to all my hopes and fears. Its really well written, fast paced, great character development. Its great way to spend 2 hours.

Worth $1 I spent on it. It's a complete story.

This was cute and short.

The writing was so good and totally worth the $1 I spent on it. I got this for a good deal and glad I did, if it wasn't so cheap I probably wouldn't have picked it up as I'm not a fan of novellas but the sale I got it on helped me try something new.

This really managed to tell a full story in its short amount of time and I totally see this being a light comedy twilight zone type episode.

It's not laugh out loud funny by any means, i dont think it even made me chuckle but the tone was humorous which I appreciated.

The plot was fantastic, intriguing and totally sold me to want to see this through as to what happens.

Even with the time constraints it even did an amazing job with character building. I totally felt like the characters presented were well written and easily recognizable.

Wish it was longer though, and maybe a sliver more exciting. It's good writing but just not something I'm going to remember very long as nothing particularly stood out.

Fool for love

What a treat! Fun, clever, and engaging. I loved the mystery of the film-flam, appreciated the past and present tie-ins, and was tickled with the romance side-plot. It’s hard to find fiction that’s both clean and smart, but this tidbit knocked it out of the park.
