Audie Award Nominee, Best Teens Category, 2013

Not so very long ago, Eragon - Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider - was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.

The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost?

This is the much-anticipated, astonishing conclusion to the worldwide bestselling Inheritance cycle.

A great way to spend a winter evening

Would you listen to Inheritance again? Why?

I'm very sorry this book is over. The Inheritance Series took up most of my evenings after work for the winter of 2011/12 and it was well worth it. Christopher Paolini is a great young writer and I'm sure will go on to even greater works. But it's Gerard Doyle's reading that makes the book sing.

What other book might you compare Inheritance to and why?

The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter. Great for kids...great if you wish you still were.

Which character – as performed by Gerard Doyle – was your favorite?

All of the Dragons. There were a lot of them, and it's amazing Doyle had a different voice for each. Okay, some sounded like Cookie Monster, but how did he do long speeches in Dragon without losing his voice?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have if I could have.

Any additional comments?

Get ready for some squeaky voices form Paolini and his editor at the end of the book. Great commentary and insight, but after listening to the melodic Doyle it's going to be very hard to listen to.

Great read! Such character depth

Such character depth that I felt I knew each of them. I found myself cheering them on at every turn! I like Christopher Paolini's uncanny ability to write strong heroines just as well as his heroes!

Best of series by FAR!!!!

I could not stop listening, and even when I feel asleep at 3am, I went back the next morning and re-listened to what I thought of missed, and became even more enthralled with the story, the characters, and the ending. Without giving too much away, I fell in love with Aria myself, and the dragon ending was ice cream on the cake. Well done Chris, lets get rolling on your new project so the rest of us can stop loosing sleep for another two years. Well done, well done.

Fitting end to a long wait.

Where does Inheritance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In order to drink some of my top favorite books, however it is very wordy and starts off extremely slow. I didn't particularly care for this narrator or the way he depicted the characters however it is a fitting end to a great story.

What other book might you compare Inheritance to and why?

I don't really know what to compare this book too it's actually a mix of several different stories. Ordinary person longs to be extraordinary, discovers he is in fact, extraordinarily. Learns to wield that power, takes on the great oppressing empire. I guess when it comes right down to it, this story almost equates with the Star Wars books.

What aspect of Gerard Doyle’s performance would you have changed?

Overall I don't care for the cadence of his speech, or the way he voices the dragons... especially Saphira! Dragon voices exists only in the mind, and the way he does the gravelly, throaty, gargled, hack voices annoys me to no end.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NO, it's far too slow and deliberate to sit though in one chunk.

Any additional comments?

Despite my negative sounding comments, I really love this series, really love the story. I do suggest listening to it if you get the chance!

I need MORE.

Loved this series. I hope there will be more ! I want to hear of the new world where Eragon and Saphira go, how the training goes, and the trouble Eragon always get into. Does an egg hatch for the Dwarfs and Eurgolse?

What did you love best about Inheritance?

I loved getting to know the characters even more than I already did.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Inheritance?

I don't want to give away too much but some of the most memorable parts to me involved nasuada and galbatorix.

What about Gerard Doyle’s performance did you like?

Although I am not a big fan of how he does saphira, I did grow to accept it and I enjoy the voices he does.
