Audie Award Nominee, Best Teens Category, 2013

Not so very long ago, Eragon - Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider - was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.

The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost?

This is the much-anticipated, astonishing conclusion to the worldwide bestselling Inheritance cycle.

Sad but just

The end of this series was a tough one for me, Paolini really develops his characters and the story in a way where you don’t want to see the book end but even after what most would assume is the “end” of Eragon’s adventure, Paolini really goes wraps up all the loose ends and leaves you off on a note that is satisfying yet mysterious. I only wish there were more in this series, a piece of my heart belongs to these characters after following them through these 4 books and I look forward to reading the fifth follow up.

The final book of an amazing series

Christopher Paolini did an amazing job of finishing this series. As someone who picked up Eragon at about age 13 and didn’t finish the series until another 16 years later, and this book being 9 years old at this point, it’s a testament to his abilities as a writer, and it’s evident through the four books he wrote that the characters development stayed true to their original introduction in the first book.

Gerard Doyle did an amazing job of narrating and giving voice to all of these characters, and just like Paolini, he kept their voices and tones consistent.

Great ending to a wonderful series

The narration was a wonderful compliment to one of my favorite series. Christopher is a talented author that made these characters come to life. It was a great way to wrap it all up yet sad as I felt like I was losing a friend. I am looking forward to the author's next book.

such a beautiful and engaging tale

the story was written beautifuly and left me sad at it's conclusion, for I'll miss the characters and the skillfully crafted world the ending has distanced me from.

My favorite book series since I was a kid.(spoilers)

I loved this series, I’ve read it several times. Though I guess I’ve changed, because this book series is kinda bitter sweet. Eragon is the biggest pussy ever, when I was younger I used to think he was pretty cool, but the more I learn and understand, the more I realize that he is the epitome of a petulant child. He is probably the worst possible dragon rider, he gets his ass whooped repeatedly by his HUMAN half brother. Despite being as strong and fast as an elf, despite himself having dragon souls to give him power. He is so weak, and he only wins through shear luck. His cousin is the most badass person in that whole world. He is literally the best character in the series. The fact that he wasn’t the protagonist seriously upsets me. He had a much better character arch, he had much better morals, he had much better reasons to succeed and win, he literally wrestled an urgal to the ground and won. Eragon himself doubted he could do so in a straight fight. Hell eragon couldn’t even get a kiss, he just kept simping after Arya even thought she made it clear that he had absolutely no chance with her. He is one of the worst main characters ever. Despite all that I heavily recommend this series, though I wish it was about Roran instead of his little bitch of a cousin.
