Publisher's summary

Cent has a secret. She lives in isolation, with her parents, hiding from the people who took her father captive and tortured him to gain control over his ability to teleport, and from the government agencies who want to use his talent. Cent has seen the world, but only from the safety of her parents' arms. She's teleported more than anyone on Earth, except for her mother and father, but she's never been able to do it herself. Her life has never been in danger. Until the day when she went snowboarding without permission and triggered an avalanche. When the snow and ice thundered down on her, she suddenly found herself in her own bedroom. That was the first time.

This is Young Adult! High School Drama...

I was hoping this one wasn't as dark as the first two, especially the second. The good news is that it isn't. But... I waited for something to happen, towards the end you get about ½ hour of action, but that is it. You expect it to pick up after book two, but it ends up following Cent through school and her teenage issues. The previous two books have very little to do with this book, you can skip it without missing anything related to the series. I think I am done with the series after this.

Not bad

Don't pay too much attention to the negative reviews. I agree this isn't as good as the others in the series, and it does seem to be more teen/high school drama than story, but I still think it was worth reading. I did enjoy it more than many of the other sci fi books I've read recently.

Love this series

The movie version of Jumper missed the mark so someone needs to make a new TV series based more on the book series. This series is great but takes too long for new books to be released.

Another great book in the Jumper series!

If you could sum up Impulse in three words, what would they be?

Fun, exciting, fast paced

Which character – as performed by Emily Rankin – was your favorite?

I thoroughly enjoyed the main character.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book, and in fact the whole series, to anyone. Way better than the JUMPER movie. All the books have been fun, fresh, interesting and compelling.

Loved it

This story is so cool. And as far as teleportation is concerned, yhe author weaves it so easily into teenage angst and everyday family life. I love it. It is not a superhero movie novel type of thing. It's a novel about family and values and things they have to deal with. And they happened to teleport. Great story. Listen to Jumper from the first book. You will have a great time.

Teleporting need I say more

some teleporting books can be hard to follow but this one is exceptional, followed it with easy, great narrator and great story,
just became a fan of Steven Gould.
I hope there is a second book as the ending was abrupt its still a good ending, but got so involved with the characters i want to keep going along with there journey.

The Jumper series continues with more excitement

Would you listen to Impulse again? Why?

I'd listen to it again so that I could pay attention to more details.

What other book might you compare Impulse to and why?

The other books in this series.

Have you listened to any of Emily Rankin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Haven't listened to any others.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, because I wanted to have time to think about what I was hearing.

Any additional comments?

Listening to this book made me hope that Gould writes another in the series.

Good story, Great narration.

What if you were a high school student with an amazing yet secret ability?
So, now you know the story.
There was an unnecessary rehash of the story when the hero finally tells their parental units what happened, but us readers were there, we saw the whole thing, several pages could have been repacked with “After I explained the whole story, mom burst into tears, laughter, or insert favorite mannerism here.”

But I liked the story. The narrator was great.
You have to suspend a certain amount of believe, for instance, only three people in the entire world have this amazing ability. And they we’re not bitten by a spider and not come from another planet.

I enjoyed this one

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the concept of this book. I didn't realise that this was the 3rd book in a series until after I listened to it. It was written in a way that it can be a stand alone book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me of the book The traveler by John Twelve Hawks but a lot lighter in it's paranoia of hiding from society. I ended up listening to the first 2 as well and enjoyed them as well.
