Publisher's summary

Anyone who dares challenge the Rho Project is being systematically picked off. At the top of the hit man’s death list: NSA fixer Jack Gregory, and the three teenagers who first exposed the Rho Project’s dark agenda to the world.

On the run for their lives, Heather, Mark, and Jennifer know that the Rho Project’s alien nano-technology has been released into the world, disguised as a miracle cure. But what they don’t yet know is that the serum has taken on a life of its own, modifying human DNA in a way that even its engineers cannot control - one that will alter the very fabric of humanity.

Great 2nd book in a fantastic trilogy!

Crazy Columbian Drug Lord? Check.

This isn't so much a 2nd book, as it is the rest of book 1.

This is scifi to keep you up late at night. Completely original and highly adictive.

Amazing story!

This book was a lot darker and more intense than "The Second Ship". I love this series way too much. I'm sure the next book will be just as fun and addicting as this.

Great Series

Great Sci Fi series that is narrated to perfection. The story has great conspiracy mixed with espionage and some aliens.

The Rho Agenda Book 2 Rocks!

Richard Phillips is a genius! When I first started listening to The Rho Agenda, I didn't think a story about 3 teenagers would be all that interesting. Boy, was I wrong!

The action barely pauses now and then to let you remember to take a breath. And the science is totally scary, considering the advancements being made in nanotechnology!

The narrator also does a splendid job of making the story come alive! The only problem is that you might forget to eat or sleep - it was that hard for me to put the book down! Now bring on Book 3! I can hardly wait!

Solid follow up to book 1

This book followed up book 1 nicely and had enough variation in geography so it wasn't just a repeat of the first. It advanced the story and kept things interesting enough for me to want to read the third.

Still a Fair YA Story

This book had perhaps even more action moments than the first book in the series. My only complaint is that the language took a turn down, and bad language is a negative: after all, many World War II stories were told and filmed with no crude language . I do not understand why modern authors cannot tell a story without wading in crudeness. Perhaps they live in it and do not appreciate the fact that many people do not want to be immersed in it. I'm not sure I want to follow this author into the third tale.

Better than the first book

This book picks up where The Second Ship left off. A lot less teen drama in this one, more focus is put on the adult aspects of this story and it really helps pick things up. Alien technology, mad scientist, government conspiracy, secret agents, and those meddlesome kids combine to form a very well put together sci-fi story.

MacLeod Andrews does a great job with this story. Pulls off a range of characters from teenage girls to Colombian crime boss without a hitch. Does an excellent job of bringing out the story without stepping out into the forefront

Outstanding

Sat in my library for a rainy day for way too long. What an absolute surprise to finally listen and realize how awesome and how much I would enjoy The Rho Agenda series. To make it even better the narration was outstanding. This series keeps you in the parking lot at work, even if a little late getting to your desk, to sneak in a few more minutes of listening.

Book 2 kicks it up a notch

Immune continues and "sorta" completes the story arc established by the first installment (The Second Ship). All the main characters are back with several additional new players, including a washed up newspaper reporter and a Colombian drug cartel. Raul gone missing in the first, shows up and plays a major role. As expected, in the end the teenagers with help from various adults manage to save the day while having one adventure after another along the way.

This installment is much darker than the first, with graphic and in some cases unnecessary violence. There are many more "evil doers" this time around in addition to Stephenson, including one with almost magical powers. Jack also remains an enigma, especially how capable he is even around the rho-enhanced opponents. Finally, the denouement is rather quick with a simple hack followed by public revelation. There are also a number of times when suspension of disbelief is quite strained (how exactly and why did the drug cartel get involved in the first place?).

In spite of these deficiencies and the fact that the pre-teen style of Scooby Do meets Power Rangers remains, the story is compelling and engrossing, leading to a fast and enjoyable listen as many chapters are short producing a staccato jumping from scene to scene. Once caught up, it's tough to shut down. Finally, while the immediate threat of Stephenson / VP world domination (their ulterior motives and end goals are never clearly articulated) is aborted, the story again ends abruptly with many unanswered questions.

The narration is superb with an excellent range of voices that perfectly compliments each of the characters.

It gets better and better

Immune picks up pretty much where The Second Ship leaves off and this one is where the wild ride takes off...we learn a lot more about both ships and the plans that Dr. Stephens has start to become clear. Heather, Jen and Mark grow up fast in this one and we see more of what their capabilities are but not really any new info about their ship.

As with the first, the narrator for this is great and make sure you have the third one ready to go, while there is not a cliff hanger at the end it's still nice to jump right to the next book.
