Publisher's summary

The signs are everywhere... disastrous world events. Evil rising up, unleashed upon the innocent. The prophecies were there... but no one listened. Until now. The time has come for those who can either usher in Doomsday...or prevent it. They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Arik Wagner, a soldier with the U.S. Army's paranormal unit, the R-XR, kissed a girl and liked it. And then he went to hell as punishment. Where he's spent weeks being tortured... and plotting revenge.

Limos, Horsewoman of the Apocalypse, isn't your average girl. She's immortal, dangerous, and her fiancé is Satan himself. In a moment of weakness, she gave in to her desire and kissed Arik, triggering her fiancé's wrath - and his claim on her. In order to save Arik, and the world, Limos must make a dangerous pact with her recently turned evil brother, Pestilence. A deal that might just cost her her soul...and her heart.

Favorite so far

What did you love best about Immortal Rider?

That one of warrior horsemen is actually a woman who has to find a way out of her contract to be satan's bride.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Limos, she has a alot of issues to conquer :-)

Which character – as performed by Hillary Huber – was your favorite?

Well this is my issue with Larissa's books, I am not a fan of constantly changing narrators. Some narrators are better then others and it does effect the quality of story. I do feel Hillary is one of the better narrators for the books, my one issue really is that alot of her male voices some too much alike and sometimes its hard to tell who is talking between Kian, Reever and Arik

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yeah they are interesting, I alway want to listen to books in one sitting....block out 3 screaming children ;-)

Any additional comments?

I recommend going through Demonica series first

WHAT A BOOK!!!

This one had me on the edge of my seat practically every chapter, and lets just say if I didn't have to work, I would have stayed up all night for this one! So much happened in this book that I had a really hard time putting it down, not to mention sleeping even after I did put it down! :)

While I enjoyed Ares's story, I enjoyed Limos's even more! While the horsemen are still trying to search for the item that could break Limos's seal, she is also faced with her past lies that are coming back to haunt her and the fact that she is is promised to the devil himself, who is looking to cash in. In the midst of everything, she ends up falling for Arik Wagner, former solder and now ally to the horsemen. Together they go through a lot, and you begin to wonder if it will make or break them.

In addition to Limos, Thanatos faces his seal possibly breaking as he is betrayed by the very people he thought were his allies, the Aegis, or was he? Larissa sets up the next book very well, and I also liked that this book gave you more different points of view unlike the last one. It helps in a lot of ways to understand where everyone is coming from and most likely giving you clues.

The narration also definitely improved since the last one. Hillary's different voices are very good, allowing you to get who is who when talking, and she didn't get as quite as she did in Eternal Rider. It does make me nervous that they change to a different narrator in the next book...but here I go! :)

Well written but not unforgettable

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I read all 5 books in the Demonica series, and all 3 so far available in the 4 horsemen chronicles. I don't know what it is about Larissa Ione--her work is creative, well written and at times quite funny, but I just can't seem to throw my heart into her stories like I can with just about any JR Ward novel or even some of the Sherrilyn Kenyon Darkhunter books. I would put this book on about the level of Lara Adrien's Midnight breed novels--well worth the read, but books that will probably gather a thick coating of dust before I pick them up again.

What could Larissa Ione have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The thing that makes a story really resonate with me is the characters. I need to be able to relate to them on a really deep emotional level, not just get sucked into the action. This story has a lot of great fight scenes and some excellent plot development, but for whatever reason the character's weren't real to me, which made me unable to be come invested in their struggle and ultimate triumph.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Hillary Huber?

Yes, definitely. She narrated one of the books in the Demonica series and did a fine job. Her portrayals of characters are discernable without being obnoxiously stylized.

Did Immortal Rider inspire you to do anything?

Like I said, I did continue with the series and am eagerly awiting the forth. It was a good book, just, in my opinion, not a great one.

Buy if you like very trashy & vulgar language

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you're used to hearing & using curse words & rude language in general & only care about erotica, go for it. I've heard cursing & rude language in my life, but I found this book to be so riddled with SO MUCH & terrible bad language (& that's putting it lightly), & I don't see myself to be the prude type. I had to delete this off my iPod, because I couldn't stand it anymore.
Do NOT get this if you are hoping to get someone else's take on the apocalyptic four riders and some spiritual insights or ideas.

Would you ever listen to anything by Larissa Ione again?

Absolute not! I hated this book, & don't plan to get any others from her.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The performer did okay. I think the book's bad language didn't help me concentrate on the performance itself.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Immortal Rider?

I forced myself to listen to about 3 hours of the book, hoping it would get better- it didn't.

Arik & Limos-Fabulous story

BOOK 2 and still Ione has got a GREAT story.
Arik & Limos, GREAT love story...I love how Arik progresses into the supernatural gradually and it helps the story be believable...yes, I get caught up in these stories and for that few hours I am lost in their world and I enjoy EVERY minute!
