Not impressed

This is a handful of generic fantasy tropes wrapped up into an hour and a half of mediocre prose, uninspired characters and cringe worthy dialogue. Have no idea why this was so highly rated. On the plus side, Wil Wheaton is a great reader.

Definitely NOT worth a whole credit.

Wil Wheaton is bad ass!

Would you listen to If Ever They Happened Upon My Lair again? Why?

Wil Wheaton does an awesome job of "getting into" the characters in this short story!

Which scene was your favorite?

The litch.

Drizztless

Fun short story. The opening scene woke me up, but the rest of the story was cliche heroes with cliche dialogue. I came for R.A. action scenes which didn’t disappoint.

No Drizzt.

Villains galore

Don't expect knights in shining armour to battle evil in this novella. It's a rough world, even if you're the big bad dragon.
The good guys barely feature and it's the villains who shine. Highly recommend to anyone interested in fantasy.

Wil Wheaton did a superb narrator job!

Wil is one of the few good narrators I've heard. wish he would've done more d&d novel narrations

Dragons, magic, and doom

If you wanted to test the waters with R.A. Salvatore or fantasy adventure in general this is a good starting point. I have very minimal prior reading in this world but I could still follow what was happening.

It combines dragons, dragon slaying, and the insidious power of lich magic and manipulation. Despite the length it succeeds at being intense and evocative. Will Wheaton has a good reading voice, he is easy to listen to.

Salvatore combined with Wheaton It Fantastic

A fun story about Dragons in the Forgotten Realms, battling Knights, Wizards and Clerics. Plus the undead, what more can you ask !

A fun short story with excellent narration

Occasionally I like to break up my longer novels with short stories or adapted versions. I decided to give this a go and I was not dissatisfied. It works because it gets straight to the action, the limited amount of characters to remember, and the amazing performance of the great Wil Wheaton. You won't be disappointed if you are into this genre.

Fantasy Books are better with Wil Wheaton

I love the Fantasy culture but am always hesitant to commit to diving in. Wil Wheaton made this a no brainer. The story is fantastic provided you have at least some background in the fantasy world of dragons and magic. I haven't listened or read any other books in this series but felt right at home with this story.

Good writing & background

Is a good short story, not that the reader did anything wrong, but the William Shatner style of speaking is a bit distracting. But only for a few moments when portraying two characters in direct dialog, who both seem to do it.
