Publisher's summary

Dani "Mega" O’Malley plays by her own set of rules - and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the few humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks - and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin - before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

Almost like this more than the Fever Series!

If you could sum up Iced in three words, what would they be?

Funny, Angsty, Sexy

What other book might you compare Iced to and why?

I would compare it to Darkfever because, just like Mac, Dani always finds humor even in the direst circumstances

Which scene was your favorite?

The Dani "vibrating" scene

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

it made me laugh a lot, Dani is just such a great character, full of life, at times child-like, and others mature beyond her years, but she is so witty and fun!

From the immortal words of The Mega, "DUDE!!!!"

Would you consider the audio edition of Iced to be better than the print version?

Definitely! Both Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante were amazing, as always! Driving my car and doing housework have never been so fun! I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I think I loved this better than all five books of the Fever series...and that's saying A LOT, b/c I would rate the Fever series an 11 out of 10! I honestly wasn't expecting that, so needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised! When I finished Iced, I was left wanting so much more, but in a good way! Since we have to wait a while for the next book, I immediately listened to the whole Fever series again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Iced?

So many! Dani and Christian's visit to the white mansion and subsequent releasing of the Crimson and her "encounter" with Ryodan and Barrons. lol. I'm loving Dani's reluctant partnership with Ryodan and can't wait to see where it's headed. They make such an awesome team! Also can't wait to learn more about "The 9." I also enjoyed Dani's friendship with Dancer. I'm sure there will eventually be a love square between Dani and Ryodan, Dancer and Christian when she grows up a bit. I'm not usually a fan of love triangles, love squares, love trapezoids...you get the picture. With this book though, I'm all for it! For those who have read/listened to the Fever series and loved it, this audiobook is an absolute must! For those who haven't read/listened to the Fever series yet, I suggest you stop what you're doing immediately and get started on those books/audiobooks ASAP! Once you've finished them, I won't even have to tell you to listen/read Iced....you will obviously want to do that on your own. :-)

What does Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They bring a whole arsenal of awesomeness to the table! Natalie does Dani absolute justice, just like she did with Mac. I did notice she changed Dani's voice/accent a bit since the Fever series, which distracted me just a little. I, like the rest of the human race, am a creature of habit and so change doesn't always come easy at times. At first, I couldn't put my finger on what was different, but then I realized she had just made Dani sound more...Irish. That's obviously a good thing though and it makes sense that she would do that. For those of you who notice it as well, just go with it. You will get used to that little change very quickly. Natalie is amazing at what she does! She goes beyond just reading a book out loud; she actually performs as if she was an actress in a film. I fervently hope she sticks with this series until the very end!

Phil Gigante's performance was outstanding, as always! That man's voice is sex on a stick! He could read the phone book and it would sound sexy. I especially love his Scottish accent for Christian McKelter. Like Natalie, he takes his narrations to the next level and truly acts and does it so well. I think he and Natalie Ross make an awesome team!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Elated joy throughout the book, because I was enjoying it the whole time. There were also "laugh out loud" moments throughout the book. The only time I felt like crying was when I finished it, b/c I realized the next book wouldn't be out until sometime next year. lol

Any additional comments?

If you couldn't tell already, I LOVED this book! Now excuse me, I must go and listen to it again. :-)

Definitely a great addition to your story KKM.

Performance is great. The story is very good and adds to the overall story line of KKM's Fever series. This first book lets us into the Dani O'Malley story which is high paced and fun to read. You will still deal with other characters from the Fever series which makes this story set well and you feel it is the story continuing. I see KKM's name and I know the book will not be a disappointment.

I want to slap Dani

FIrst of all, I love the Fever Series. What I don’t like is Dani. The idea of her character is great and well written, but she is soooooo super, like, annoying, DUDE! I didn’t care for her in the first 5 books, but she wasn’t a big part of it. But ICED is 80% Dani. I really like the story and Ryodan, Jo, Kate, Dancer, and Christian. It was just a little difficult for me to get thru Dani. I just want to slap her and tell her to “grow the feck up”. But that IS the whole point of her character, so well done KMM. I wasn’t especially fond of Mac in the beginning either, but she grew on me by book 3. I really hope Dani grows up because it will be the only redeeming quality in her personality, for me. From afar, I appreciate her character, up close, SLAP!

I have to hand it to KMM tho. She has created characters who are raw and not always very likable, but you like them anyway. She has created a world and story unlike the other cookie cutter series in this genre. It’s dark, yet refreshing. I do highly recommend this series. I’ve even started reading The Highlander series of KMM.

I have sour taste in my mouth from the constant changing of narrators in this series. As narrators these two, Phil and Natalie, are good. Inflections and character voice differentiation is good as well. BUT.... I just didn’t think the Irish accents were done very well. In all fairness, I am no linguistic expert, so take it with a grain of salt.

Superheroes

I wasn't pleased at all about the transition from book 5 to book 6 even as the writer tried to fill in the gaps. I almost didn't read this book. Dani is a firecracker. Dani,Ryodan and Lor are awesome trying to save Dublin from the Hoar frost king. love Dani's energy and wit, all characters are well written.

This one has it all...

5 star performance from Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross. They not only made me hear the story but also FEEL every minute of it. Truly incredible performance.

Karen Marie Moning is one of my favorite authors. In my opinion, she is the MOST TALENTED writer. No one can bring characters to life like can. Her action packed stories move at a frantic pace with the character so real, so alive, that it leaves the reader feeling every moment of the story physically.

This novel borders on a YA novel but only because the heroine is very young. The story itself is full of action and adult themes. It is the perfect blend of the adult world as experienced by a young adult and the adolescent angst as seen by adults.

Do I need to say it? I HIGHLY recommend this one.

Love, love, love!

Second time through this book - this time through the audible book. The production is marvelous and I have a whole new appreciation for Dani. First time coming out of the steamy fever series with Mac and Barron front and center, it was hard to get into a teen. This time it was completely enjoyable. Look forward to the next two

Loved It!!

Where does Iced rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I Loved, loved , loved, this book. Of course, I loved her fever series, so it was so fun to read this book from her POV instead of Mac's. I can't wait until the next one comes out. !
