Publisher's summary

Dani "Mega" O’Malley plays by her own set of rules - and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the few humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks - and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin - before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

Great to be back into the Fever series!

Iced by Karen Marie Moning (Audiobook)
Narrators: Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross
Series: Fever Book 6

❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ After reading the first five books in the fever series the first time, I was really looking forward to Iced, as I loved Dani. However, when I realized she was still only 14 years old in the book, I didn't know what to think… cause well... this is an adult romance book. I also waited till all the books were out, as I hate waiting for the next in a series with cliffhangers. So the pressure was on!
I think Dani was written well, no totally creepy parts (some maybe could think so.. but nothing was taken too far, in my opinion.) I loved the pace, lots of action, and a bit of a mystery to solve…. sorta. There was a wee bit of a cliffhanger, and I am looking forward to reading the next book. I think the two narrators did a wonderful job. I quite enjoy Ryodan and I love Christian. Hoping I see more of them.

Best performance of the series

Would you consider the audio edition of Iced to be better than the print version?

Oh, this is a tough question. Iced is such a great read, and I really enjoy the peace of snuggling up with a good book - but this performance is so spot on that I think I love both formats equally.

What other book might you compare Iced to and why?

said it before and I'll say it again - nothing compares to this series!

Which scene was your favorite?

I have two favorite scenes -
1. When Dani dies at the church. This scene somehow manages to be tense, sweet and hysterically funny from one moment to the next.
2. Dani and Ryodan's fight at the club when she discovers he is still alive. KMM writes characters that make you want to scream at times, and this is one of them. So much goes unsaid here that I find myself wanting to jump into the book and mediate, just so the characters will finally understand that they care about each other.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!

Any additional comments?

Don't skip this book because you are too attached to Mac and Barrons. I guarantee you will love Dani and Ryodan just as much - if not more- by the end of this book.

Iced...

I was really disappointed that Moning decided to write this story from Dani's point of view. Novella from her POV would have been fine, but not a novel....then there's the creep factor of two adult males being sexually interested in a young teenager (hurling repeatedly). Not sure if I'll pick-up the next story if it continues in Dani's POV.

great continuance of story line

excellent representation of Dani story, nice to see things from her POV. she is super interesting character. wondering how KMM will work around her age. when so many males are sniffing around her. 14yrs old is too young for a lover, but Dani is her own girl. if she wants it she will make it happen 😀

Good but very slow

Love this world and (most) of the characters. Love the new character-Dancer. Not sure where his storyline will go. Dani's story was very long. Very good story that adds to the overall plot of series. But I felt like it was stretched too much. Dani would use 8-10 sentences to say the same thing as the original sentence conveyed. Again, it is a good story. I love the male/female narrators. They do such a good job with all the character voices!! Just felt this story could have been 3 hours shorter.

You will understand Dani so much more. I did feel like Mac and Barrons would have been at the final battle with the HFK (listen to know who bad Fae is😉). Maybe its explained in next book what these 2 were up to.

Dani spends whole book thinking Mac hates her. That was 1 of the sub plots I thought was stretched too much. I know its the lead in to the next book and that's why, but so much of story dragged.

If you love the series as I do, don't skip this one. There are lots of sub plots you need to understand. You just might want to set reading speed to 1.25 like I did.

A little juvenile but hey, that’s Dani

So I didn’t really want to continue with this series after Mac’s arc was done cause I found Dani annoying in the previous books. This book centers around Dani and yes, she’s annoying but she is only 14 so her character personality can be forgiven because of that I guess. Also, you’ve got grown men and older who are lusting after her sexually or what she can offer as far as usefulness. Yep, you heard that right, which just rubs the wrong way.

I stuck with it because you see more of the side characters from the first five books, which is great. You see how they are developing with more center roles. They’re very interesting characters, which is why I stuck around to finishing it. It’s worth a credit. But be warned. It’s either you like Dani or you don’t. I didn’t, but every other character was interesting.

Drags

The plot of the book isn’t revealed until you’re half way through. The narrator doesn’t differentiate between accents with the women so you never know who’s talking. Dani is super annoying & the story already drags so her persistent complaining doesn’t make this an easy read.
