Incomplete Series

Was really getting into this series. Many parallel interlocking plots. Problem is that the who series is about 9 books but Audible only has the first three. So just as I was getting into it, I went to download the next and guess what, not available on Audible. Of note, it exists in audio as it is listed on Amazon.

How many books does it take?

OK granted I love the books 1 through 3 but honestly how many books does it take before finishing a story? I see on the web-site from the author that already 3 books more are lined up. I really don't like stories which carry over so many books. Can an author not just finish a story and write a new one? I would give it a 5 if the story was done now but as it is only 3 stars for an extrem long story.

did collaci listen to the other books

David colacci I am.sory to say infuriates me reading this. I loved the other books. now I have to deal with a lazy reader who tries to make two letter designation into a name. he says ea the robot said as long e long a. eeeeah. it is awful. he also changed the pronunciation of several other key characters. jorah and osirah he now emphasizes the ah on everything. please listen to the previous narrator and continue the same pronunciation. this is what I hate about reading a long series when they change reader. change reader I won't care but all pronunciation needs to remain the same for continuity sake. we can't read the word and always make the connection that your being a tool reading a word wrong.

Loved the book, but the narrator....

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The Narrator. He was awful and made a five star book into a three star book by his performance alone.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rolinda Kett. She's flamboyant and interesting.

Would you be willing to try another one of George Guidall’s performances?

No. It does not seem as though this narrator even bothered to read or listen to the previous books. He butchers the characters names (based on how the previous narrator pronounced them), reads the book like he obviously has NO connection to the story, and reads in a boring monotone. If you can't sleep, forget Ambien, listen to this guy and take care of that problem. The voice overs were OK, but did not make up for all of his mispronunciations. For example, the compies. It was clearly stated in the earlier books that their names were two letters (E.A., NOT E-ah, G.U., NOT Goo). Not to mention all of the other butchered names (Tassia is pronounced Tah-sia, NOT Tay-sia). I certainly hope they get rid of this guy in future volumes. If the story was not so epic and good, I would have bagged this book.

Was Horizon Storms worth the listening time?

The story is just what I like. It's the narrator that sucks.

Any additional comments?

PLEASE BRING BACK THE FIRST NARRATOR.

Warning Warning Warning

Book 3 ends like you are at the end of a chapter. When I came to the end I didn't realize it was the end of the book. I thought I listened to the downloads in the wrong order. When I read the reviews about the books dragging on and not knowing what's happening for years, I thought the reviewers were just being a little critical. Now I wish they were more critical, like, hey dude, the author is going to cut you off like in a soap opera episode. I thought book one, started off slow, reading like a history of some lost civilization. Books 2 and 3 are much better and worth the listen...until the author drops you. Now, I will wait until all 8 books are out in three years before picking up this story again. It seems authors have discovered a fine living writing 10 book sagas. At least some authors throw you a bone by providing a little closure a the end of each book.

FULL RETRACTION OF MY LAST REVIEW

What made the experience of listening to Horizon Storms the most enjoyable?

This is a great series, This is a long series, this is a very complex and deep series of books. I made some back handed compliments on the last book and fully retract anything negative I said.

Switching voice talent a few books in was a hard pill for me to swallow but by the last book, the one I just finished today, I was fully committed to the work of George Guidall and realized my inability to adapt to change that was for the better may affect how other people view the series. I want to make sure anyone who reads this review knows that the voice talent is excellent and the author is a magician in balancing so many well developed characters and intersecting plot lines. Kevin J. Anderson is a master. This series is exceptional. Thank you.

Quite enjoyable!

I've read quite a bit of SciFi and Fantasy and this series is one of the more enjoyable to read.

Please audible get the rest of the series (book 4, 5, 6 possibly) - they are already on audio but not on audible.com!

Great Series

I have enjoyed this series, but I have to admit that I really didn't get into it until about half way throught the second book. He kept killing off Characters which made it hard to follow in the beginning. Book 3 is the best of them all.
