There are reasons the undead fear the night...
Bill Ryder - gamer, geek, and legendary vampire - has woman troubles. The girl he wants is deadly to him. The girl who wants him is deadly to everyone else. He's trapped in the most lethal love triangle he can imagine and it's only going to get worse.
On the eve of war, The Icon - ancient foe of the vampire race - has arisen. Panic is about to break out within the undead ranks and Bill is caught smack dab in the middle of it. Destiny has placed them on a cataclysmic collision course, but there's just one small catch: he's in love with her.
Now he finds himself in a race against supernatural assassins to save the person who's fated to destroy him. Talk about being damned if you do...
Unsure of his allies and outnumbered by enemies, Bill must dig deep within himself and find the faith to succeed - because if he fails, it'll be more than just his social life in tatters.

I like scifi and urban fantasy. I don't like romance novels. If you are the same my reviews should help.
I would listen to this book again. This is mainly because it seems to be a bridge book for future novels. The character's are being developed a bit more which is good. The humor is fun, but you can't carry a series on the strength of that alone.
Anything with Gann. That character cracks me up.
He doesn't have a great range of voices but he nails the main character dead on. I couldn't imagine anyone else reading this series atthis point.
No, but that was because I listened to the other three books back-to-back.
This book is a bit different from the others, but is a good read and seems to be developing the series for the future.
Audiobooks are great tool in dealing with my ADHD. They limit distractions while listening and I don't have to sit still. PS. I can't spell
The latest installment of the Tome of Bill continues to raise the bar for how much crap can be dumped on a poor geeky vampire. As a result, it's a good thing Bill doesn't have to breath because there isn't a snorkel long enough. Explosions have Bill dancing as fast as he can as he tries to stay undead for another day. Just when you figure there isn't anyone Bill hasn't driven to want him dead, his ultimate wedgie of bad luck and super anti-personnel powers manage to identify the few beings left on the planet that don't want to "Kill Bill" and alienates them. The World wants Bill and it wants him dead, really dead; like Monty Python Parrot dead.
This is a fast paced, action packed ireverent romp tripping the vampire geek-tastic. Bill's SMALL group of co-adventurers (friends would be stretching it in some cases), lead by Sally (a real femme fatale), navigate a world turned hostile where "safe house" seems to translate to "Ground Zero" for Bill. Bill's inner monologue and the witty banter between characters had me laughing out loud. It's got to be funny to get me to laugh out loud because people look at me strange when I do; but this book is funny and people did stare.
This tome ended on a cliff hanger so there has to be another one coming and I can't wait. Maybe the next one will have some characters dressed in red to clear things up a bit.
Obsessed with Terry Pratchett's Discworld and the TV show The Big Bang Theory. LOVE books, especially audiobooks.
I'm on the 5th book of the Tome of Bill series, and it's a great story. Funny, relatively believable, and full of action. The narrator (Fetherolf), however, could really use some help. Specifically, he has no idea how to pronounce 10% of the words in any of these books. Not particularly obscure words, either: "caste" and "penchant", for instance. It's not like these books are recorded alone in a basement . . . where was the rest of the crew?
Also, I noticed a few editing gaps in this book; the narrator would do a second take on a sentence, but they never edited the first take out. Not a big deal, but a little unprofessional.
Overall, the narration is decent, and the mispronunciation is annoying, but not enough to ruin the story for me. Just be forewarned.
the 2nd half was messy and the ending was missing .he said he was "absolutely swamped with projects, " he didn't have time for the book. they should have given him more time.
