Publisher's summary

Heretics of Dune, the fifth installment in Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi series.

On Arrakis, now called Rakis, known to legend as Dune, 10 times 10 centuries have passed. The planet is becoming desert again. The Lost Ones are returning home from the far reaches of space. The great sandworms are dying, and the Bene Gesserit and the Bene Tleilax struggle to direct the future of Dune. The children of Dune's children awaken as from a dream, wielding the new power of a heresy called love.

Supremely Satisfying

So much has built to what transpires in this novel it’s hard to even articulate how supremely satisfying it was. Even more fantastic world building, incredible sequences and set pieces, compelling mystery and revelation.

The only bittersweet thing is knowing I only have one more book to read (I don’t have much interest in reading Brian Herbert’s additions and have heard they aren’t great to begin with)

as good as the others

great to keep the story going. jarring at first because of how far in the future the story steps after the previous book. but the characters and story quickly became as engrossing as the rest of the books. ending was a bit confusing. I'll have to read up on exactly what happened. excited for the final chapter in this saga!

Surprise

I have been continually surprised by the quality of the audible performances. This compounded with the incredible storytelling has truly left me in awe.

A next level follow up in the Dune saga!

I am still reeling from the plot of this book. How do you follow up the events of the God Emperor and have anything feel so meaningful, Frank Herbert was able to do that. After resonating with so many characters throughout this series and becoming attached, an entirely new group of heroes and villains entered the scene, none of which I will forget. The narration is always superb, the voice acting allows for immersion into the world of Dune. I’m excited to revisit this book again and again!

Boo Yah!

Just fantastic. Not only Herbert's amazing story, but this production of it.I think I've done the whole series on Audible, and they all freakin' rock. Bravo!

Noble purpose....to a dark and twisted end.

The great worm returned as a tentacled monster in sietch tabur. Absolutely astonishing twist that leaves you in utter dismay at the sheer graphic violence described in this addition to this series. The ending... even more horrific and gruesome. truly marvelous.. I couldn't stop reading.

Another great book in the Dune series

This was the first book in Dune series that I found myself struggling to engage with the story. It likely has to do with the necessary buildup required to bridge the gap between this story and that of God Emperor of Dune.

It was at the 4.5 hour mark that I noticed I was finally engaged in the audiobook and I didn't want to put it down. After that point, it was just as awesome as the previous Dune books. The ending definitely left me wanting more.

If you've read the first four Dune books by Frank Herbert, I highly recommend continuing with this one. Just be aware that the first 4-5 hours might not be as captivating.

Never tire of this series.

Heretics of Dune is my favorite in the series. I'll never tire of listening to it over and over. Miles Teg, enough said.
