Publisher's summary

In this, the sequel to A Hymn Before Battle, Captain Michael O'Neal and his forces on Earth prepare to hold back an impending Posleen invasion.

"Thanks to alien technology and sheer guts, the Terrans on two worlds fought the Posleen to a standstill. Thank God there was a moment to catch our breath, a moment, however brief, of peace.

"Now, for the survivors of the Barwhon and Diess Expeditionary Forces, it was a chance to get some distance from the blood and misery of battle against the Posleen centaurs. A blessed chance to forget the screams of the dying in purple swamps and massacres under searing alien suns."

A battle tale...

A US centric battle yarn with a plethora of competent and incompetent characters, with hints of galactic machinations as Earth is invaded by reptilian hordes...
I enjoyed this as an escapism - if you are looking for "Hoo Haa" Scifi soldier action - this is the stuff.

This is CAN of Military Sci-Fiction Woop Ass!

I started reading John Ringo when he first got started. So I was excited to see most of his books going audio. This is as good as it gets. The audio book does not disappoint. The narrator does it justice. I am ex-army retired and a computer weenie (26 years), and believe that John captures the flavor and essence of the military and the techie side of warfare as well..lots of action and lots of good ideas and new concepts.

KICK ASS!!!

If you could sum up Gust Front in three words, what would they be?

Earth desperate fight for existance in a universe manipulate by Allien races bent on either eating or using us to suite their aims.

What other book might you compare Gust Front to and why?

There is no comparison out there that for this book that I have found yet. This book is nail biting fun combined with good old fashion don't screw with the USA. It’s a hell of a ride.

Which character – as performed by Marc Vietor – was your favorite?

Michael O'Neil was the best character of any book I have listened to so far. That’s actually saying a lot. Veitor’s voice is the perfect Clint Eastwood meets General Patton bad ass as Michael O’Neil.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me want to go out and kick the ass of any and all enimies of the USA.

Any additional comments?

This was the best book I have listened to so far. I like the action and the honor of the main character and the storyline. This was a damn good story well written and narrated perfectly.

Good continuation.

It was a good second story. Needed more closure though to feal finished. Some parts like at the farm needed more detail.

Best Sci-Fi series...ever

John Ringo has a knack for creating engaging stories. Even in a sub-genre (alien invasion) that has been all but exhausted, Ringo finds a way to spin the story in a rather unique and very entertaining way. The character development is so well done, even the minor, bit-players seem larger than life.

This is the fourth or fifth time I've listened to this series. The narrator is one of the best in the industry whose performance adds so much value to the story.
