Publisher's summary

Kat Richardson excels at creating vivid, fast-moving novels that blend urban fantasy with paranormal mystery. In Greywalker, Seattle P.I. Harper Blaine is viciously attacked and murdered - but after exactly two minutes, somehow she returns to life. poor pronunciation of words

I have read this book as a paperback and completely enjoyed the book. I was hoping the narrator would be as good as the Dresden Files JIm Butcher was..

however the woman narrator has terrible pronunciation of words and I find myself correcting her while listening to the story..
also most of the time it sounds like she's getting off a list not actually voice acting and it is very distracting there should be some of the better reading the story...
if you're going to be an aerator you must research how words are properly pronounced...
I filled in voice acting is mediocre-at-best.

Whiny

I might have enjoyed the story more, but it was hard to get past the whiny voice of one of the main characters.

Walking along the Grey

Very well written story. The characters were believable and the narrator managed to make you both hate and love the characters when needed. if you happen to like ur an fantasy and get annoyed with overly graphic sex scenes that don't really add much to the story, then this is good because it doesn't get bogged down by that.

unique

It was a tiny bit hard to follow, just information overload, and lots of unanswered questions, but I still look forward to reading the next book. I am hoping that it reads more smoothly.

Annoying reader; good book

I think this reader should try a different series, and a different reader should try this series.

Interesting Story

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The book was a little slow in places, and although I found the book interesting, I doubt I will continue this series.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I love the GreyWalker aspect and it really was a different take on Vamps than a lot of other vamp books.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I didn't find the narrator as annoying as others, having listened to 'really' bad narrators that have totally ruined the book. That being said, some of her voices were whinny and high pitched.

Any additional comments?
Really enjoyed Ben and Mara, and Cameron too. Quinton was a great asset also. Love that Harper had a ferret.

just listened again 11/2022 Love this book now and will continue on to the next book. Again, don't understand the negative reviews of the narrator. I Rather enjoyed her.

Harry Dresden meets Kinsey Millhone

Kat Richardson weaves a tale of good old fashioned gumshoe work mixed with supernatural complications. Our heroine finds herself unwillingly dropped into the world of the not quite dead, ghosts and energies the rest of us just do not see. This new ability draws her into situations she may be hard pressed to survive.

This audio book really made the miles go by quickly. Her tale is original and not predictable. Even the end held a surprise I didn't see coming. The characters grow nicely throughout the story.

I highly recommend this one with the caveat that some scenes may be a little much for small ears.

Painful Narration of a Really Good Book

I own all of the print books in this series and I really enjoyed them. I listen to a lot of audio books during my long commute and I thought I'd re-visit this series on audio. I quit half-way through because the narration was so bad. It's not even that the male characters didn't sound the way I imagined them from reading the books; some of them didn't sound anything like the gender and/or age they're supposed to be.

Maybe it's more frustrating for me because I enjoyed reading the series. I hate to give a good writer's book a bad review, but... I couldn't make myself ignore the terrible narration long enough to get into the story. Buy the print books. Buy the e-Books. Give the Audio a miss.

Better than average, but not amazing.

Very well acted. I liked the story but kind of lost interest for a while. I still feel it's worth a listen, though.

The narrator should be called a voice actor.

I don,t think I would have enjoyed this book if had been read by anyone else. Each of the female parts sounded like a different reader. The male voices Not so much. My favorite character was Lady Guendalin of Anorexia. This resembles The Dresden Files only a female version.
