Publisher's summary

If society collapsed, could you survive?

When Morgan Carter's car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. But things are about to get much, much worse: The country's power grid has collapsed. There is no electricity, no running water, no Internet, and no way to know when normalcy will be restored - if it ever will be.

An avid survivalist, Morgan takes to the road with his prepper pack on his back. During the grueling trek from Tallahassee to his home in Lake County, chaos threatens his every step but Morgan is hell-bent on getting home to his wife and daughters - and he'll do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Fans of James Wesley Rawles, William R. Forstchen's One Second After, and The End by G. Michael Hopf will revel in A. American's apocalyptic tale.

Whether we’re focused on the apocalypse or just an ill-timed breakdown on the side of a particularly remote road, there’s something about imagining survival scenarios that can be addictive. On some level, we all wonder if we would have what it takes to pit ourselves against the worst the world can possibly offer and make it out alive. That’s why it’s no surprise that survival literature is so popular, and that the stories in the genre are so diverse.

Narrator

I love how much details given and how the narrator puts, emphasis mixed with emotion

Better than I thought

This brings the frightening and potential reality of our life as we know it coming to an end and the chaos that ensues. Definitely makes you want to think on how you can prepare yourself for anything happening in the future

excellent series

If you could sum up Going Home in three words, what would they be?

Fast paced, good script.

What about Duke Fontaine’s performance did you like?

excellent

Any additional comments?

This is a series so dont expect the usual ending where a story is complete. The author leaves you wanting more and to get more you buy the next book.
I have now read the 3 books and enjoyed every minute of each book. I hope there will be more.

Good book

I liked this book and like this series. One thing that annoyed me was that it was a little too unrealistic when it came to gear and all if the junk he had in his backpack. Still, it was good. I just get annoyed by that stuff. I find the second book more realistic in that regard.

Can't get enough of this story.

I really love this story. Morgan Carter is a man I can really relate to. I hope if I was ever put into this situation I could do half as good.... well I hope I can do way better than what he did at one part. lol I won't give it away.

Duke Fontaine has the perfect reading voice for this book. I hope to see or hear him read more books like this series.

Story keeps getting better

If you could sum up Going Home in three words, what would they be?

All too true

What did you like best about this story?

The way the author walks you through what he's doing and what weapon he used and how he used a certain item to do a certain task. It was almost a how too book for surviving a catastrophe. I know it will probably make some liberals curl into a corner and suck their thumbs but in the story as in the real world if/when this should ever happen, they will be in the camps where the liberals belong.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the whole series so far.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I hope it is not made into a movie. They would have to change or cut too much. I think making it a TV series that lasts a couple seasons would be great.

Any additional comments?

If you like to be independent and not rely on the govt to take care of you, this book is for you. If you are interested in basic prepping 101 you will like this book. Just being prepared is not being a right wing nut. If so, the scouts are right wing nuts.

GREAT first in a series!

What did you love best about Going Home?

The interaction between Morgan, Thad and Jessica. Also how realistic the series is. If you are prepared, how would you deal with people among you who were not? I also loved 'Sarge', even though he is a sort of Deus ex machina character. He's a fun one and I liked him a lot!

What about Duke Fontaine’s performance did you like?

Duke Fontaine does a great job narrating. Some men can't do women voices, and vise versa, but Duke does a good job with that.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Morgan, Thad and Jessica help a family with food because they have kids, and seeing how that family pays them back for their assistance.

Any additional comments?

For anyone interested in either EOTW series or just prepping in general, I really recommend this series.
