Publisher's summary

Drizzt joins Bruenor on his quest for the fabled dwarven kingdom of Gauntlgrym: ruins said to be rich with ancient treasure and arcane lore. But before they even get close, another drow and dwarf pair stumbles across it first: Jarlaxle and Athrogate. In their search for treasure and magic, Jarlaxle and Athrogate inadvertently set into motion a catastrophe that could spell disaster for the unsuspecting people of the city of Neverwinter - a catastrophe big enough to lure even the mercenary Jarlaxle into risking his own coin and skin to stop it.

Unfortunately, the more they uncover about the secret of Gauntlgrym, the more it looks like they can’t stop it on their own. They’ll need help, and from the last people they ever thought to fight alongside again: Drizzt and Bruenor.

Moving on

If you could sum up Gauntlgrym in three words, what would they be?

Dexterity Magic Ancient

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Thay Chick with the Staff, because she's not your typical Villian. She has a little more dimension.

What does Victor Bevine bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Well he can read while I'm working :D which I can't do.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

For the most part yea.

I love closure :)

though it is sad to listen to the end of beloved characters, as with all our lives, every begging must have an end. I appreciate the creative and comforting closure to the storey of the dwarven king and his trusted body guard. Quite a treat to have stalwart Puent there for the gran finalé.

Victor Bevine is Better But Still Not Good

This is an amazing piece of the Drizzt saga—a must read for any Drizzt Do’Urden fan. Unfortunately, Victor Bevine is back narrating, but luckily he’s toned down his overacting somewhat. Here he reads with a slightly more neutral tone, which comes off as more fundamentally truthful, and thus, provides a more listening enjoyable experience.

Stii a great Story with closure.

This book to me just felt like it was rushed and something felt missing. Like Salvatore was forced to conclude one storyline just to follow a timeline. Sure it was inevitable but just didn't feel right. Felt way Dark. But still, I read along for the love of the stoic Ranger and what he stands for? After Listening to one book narrated by Mark Bramhall (The Ghost King) I am torn between the 2 narrators. I prefer BruenOr of Mark Bramhall to BruenEr to Victor Bevine. Mark Bramhall just seemed to embellish the characters with more. Especially the Bwah Haha's Bevine just seemed to lack feeling compared to Mark Bramhall. Just My Opinion Take it or leave it. Great book just the narration to me seemed to fall flat in areas and I will get over the Sped up timeline thing.. Still feels like something was missing..

Annother Home Run!

I have been a fan of R.A.Salvatore's work since the Crystal Shard hooked me and sent me down this path. Gauntlgrym is another epic beginning. If your new to the Forgotten Realms or an old adventurer like myself, your going to love this book!
True to his style, the action is awesome! and you don't want to put the book down.
The narration was well done and enjoyable to listen to. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
