Publisher's summary

Mercy Thompson returns in the seventh novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling series.

Mercy Thompson's life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman—the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack—has made her a stepmother to his daughter, Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy's life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more....

After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can't reach Adam—or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They've all been abducted.

Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam's disappearance may be related—and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.

About time

What made the experience of listening to Frost Burned the most enjoyable?

At last something that has more Adam in it, even tho there was alot of Mercy. But Wow the last book was not exciting. I dont want to give away anything, but worth spending the money on.

Another Excellent Mercy Thompson Book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, as long as they've read the previous Mercy Thompson books. The story line has been compelling from the very beginning. For some reason I felt the story was a little stilted compared to the others, but I'll re-listen to it in another week or two and see if I feel the same way after round 2.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mercy and Adam are the two main characters, and have to be favorites. But I also really like Ben, he's evolving into a semi decent person (werewolf) but he's an ass, and reminds me of some of my friends who also have asshole tendencies :) Warren and Kyle are a great couple and hilarious, and Jessi is always fun. I could go on and on, but you may get it that I pretty much like the whole cast of characters.

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked it when Coyote pops back in the picture and Mercy draws the poisoned silver from Adam, I'd have loved to have seen his face at that moment.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

A couple, but I don't want to add a lot of spoilers to this review.

Any additional comments?

The whole series is well written and entertaining. And the spin off series with Charles starting with Alpha and Omega are well written and entertaining as well.

Another great installment!

This was another great installments in an excellent series. I have been working my way through an audio re-read of this amazing series over the course of this year. It surprises me how much I am enjoying this series during my re-read. This book isn't one of my favorites in the series but it was really good. I wanted to listen to this book for hours at a time because I wanted to stay with Mercy and the gang and make sure that everything would work out for them.

This book opens with Mercy and Jesse doing some black Friday shopping. Mercy gets into a small traffic accident while they were out which really shouldn't have been a big deal. They realize that there is a problem when they can't reach Adam or any other member of the pack when they call for a ride home. The entire pack has been abducted.

Mercy is such a strong character and great leader. She takes her role as Adam's mate seriously and works to keep everyone she safe. There is quite a bit of excitement as she works to protect the few connected to the pack that were not taken. She is able communicate with Adam through her mate bond so she isn't completely unaware of things that are happening.

I really enjoyed spending time with some of my favorite characters. Mercy was incredibly brave and smart in this story. She is willing to sacrifice her own safety to keep others safe when needed. Adam was fierce at times but such a great leader and protector. I do wish that Mercy and Adam hadn't been separated so much during this story. I really enjoyed the focus on Ben, Tad, and Asil in this book since they are characters that we don't always see a lot of.

Once again Lorelei King does a fantastic job with the narration. There were a few sections of this book that were told from Adam's point of view and I thought she did a great job with those. She really does bring Mercy to life. There is so much emotion that really comes through in her narration. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators and I look forward to listening to more of her work soon.

I would highly recommend this series to others. This is my second time experiencing this book but it will not be my last. It is simply wonderful to find a series of books that you know you will enjoy no matter how many times you read them. I can't wait to listen to the next book very soon.

Another great book in a great series!

I love this series! Mercy Thompson is one of my favorite characters out of the many series I keep up with. She is strong and independent without being overly aggressive or defensive. I love the way Briggs continues to let Mercy evolve and grow. That was especially apparent in this book, which showcased Mercy's abilities. I also really like the supporting characters in the books. Many of them made appearances and had bigger roles in this book.

Another great Mercy book

What did you love best about Frost Burned?

The continuation of Mercy's story. I love series because I don't like giving up characters. This book follows a very similar structure as all the rest of the Mercy books, but it is an enjoyable read. Fast paced, high action, and the perfect blend for an urban fantasy.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mercy, of course. Our heroine is the reason to read these book. Possibly followed by Stephan ... I like brooding, conflicted, and unhappy characters.

Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She does a great job. She reads all of the Mercy books, and I am now attached to her and her style of reading. I smile every time she says "car" because of the accent that comes out. : )

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Moved ... not really, but I liked the interaction between Mercy and Marsillia. Two very different women and it is interesting to see them having to work together.

still Loving this series

I love Urban fiction when it is well written & this series is definitely in that class. it's a nice change of pace on the romance style of damsel in distress too. Mercy can definitely hold her own & doesn't want to be smothered by her man.

Best in the series so far!

I usually have trouble getting invested in the Mercy Thompson stories. It usually takes about a third of the book before I become really invested. No so with this book. It was action packed from the start. It had real stakes and real consequences. We get to see things from Adam's point of view for the first time. Lorelei King does a great job, as always. The only thing keeping me from giving her 5 stars is when their are to characters in a scene late in the book with accents, despite coming from different parts of the world, they have almost the same accent and it can be difficult to tell who is speaking. Beyond that, she does a marvelous job.
