At last, the costly and bitter war between the two Foundations had come to an end. The scientists of the First Foundation had proved victorious; and now they return to Hari Seldon's long-established plan to build a new Empire that the Second Foundation is not destroyed after all - and that its still-defiant survivors are preparing their revenge.

Now the two exiled citizens of the Foundation - a renegade Councilman and the doddering historian-set out in search of the mythical planet Earth.... and proof that the Second Foundation still exists.

Meanwhile, someone - or something - outside of both Foundations seems to be orchestrating events to suit its own ominous purpose. Soon representatives of both the First and Second Foundations will find themselves racing toward a mysterious world called Gaia and a final shocking destiny at the very end of the universe!

"well done...wish scott did the final book also"

This was a good listen...too bad the next book in the series: 'foundation and earth'- it was great book---the climax the foundation series...but what a brutal listen. Scott Brick did a fine job with other foundation books, and he should've did the final book also.

I have listened to much of the Dune series also...all very good esp 'Dune.'
Scott Brick did much of it also, and was good. Simon Vance as the narrator in 'Dune' is a real treat-- he is probably one of my favorites...in any of his narrations.

I read perhaps 1 or 2 books a year before Audible. Now I listen to 1 or 2 books a month. I'm mostly listen to sci-fi, fantasy, and classics. I'm a software developer and tabletop game designer.

"Enjoyed it as much as the original trilogy"

I was worried to listen to this book, realizing it was written like 30 years after the first 3. But if I had not known that fact before hand, I would have never guessed it. The book doesn't miss a beat and feels consistent with the previous 3. I really enjoyed it. It was as good as the originals and in some ways better. The narrgator is top notch. It's a good mystery and kept me totally engaged. I was a little disappointed how it ended. Not that it was poorly done. It just sort of waterdowns the importance of the 2 foundations. But it was still interesting and well done. Looking forward to the next book. Sadly, it has a different narrator.

    "Loved it."
Would you listen to Foundation's Edge again? Why?

Sure. It is the second time I have read or listen to it, because it is a great story.

What other book might you compare Foundation's Edge to and why?

There is a similar scope like the Dune series, but with a more specific edge to it. Where Dune and Foundation deal with galaxy wide issue, area, and history. Foundation does it in the context of a few characters, but Dune is multi-character. Love em both.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and he is always great.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Treves makes his choice for Galaxia.

    Any additional comments?

    none

"Foundation books as a group are outstanding"
Would you consider the audio edition of Foundation's Edge to be better than the print version?

No. Reading lets the mind run wild where audio tells delivers the book in a way that lets you enjoy the book but as the reader tells it.

Far better than the original trilogy. Science fiction at its best. Asimov weaves an exciting intellectual complicated and satisfying story.

"Thought provoking book from the master of S.F."

As others from Mr Asimov, this book held my attention with a thought provoking lesson far ahead of its time.

    "Asimov shines"

The first 3 foundation books were, at times, a little tedious and boring. The robot series was much more entertaining. The reason for this? Asimov simply became a better writer with age.

Now, he has returned to the Foundation series with this better writing style and produced a very good book that will keep you entertained and trying to guess what will happen next from cover to cover. Of the 4 Foundation books I've read so far, this is by far the best and I recommend it to anyone who has read the first 3 novels.

    "Great"

Scott Brick again proves to be a great interpreter. A must read in segment to the 3 first books.

    "Stunning."

The deeper I go into Asimov's Foundation universe, the happier and more hopeful I become. Beautiful work.
